Framing the Dialogue

True American Hero – Lord Christopher Monckton

Sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!

moncktonThe begining of this Longfellow poem was used by Lord Christopher Moncton to end his address at Bethel University last week.  I had never heard that poem before, but Lord Monckton told the audience that it was also used by Winston Churchill in an address to FDR as we entered World War II.  It shows the deep love, respect, and hope that our country represents to many in the world.  Lord Monckton also said these touching words:

“here in your great nation, which I so love and I so admire”

I believe that Lord Christopher Monckton feels this way about us.  I could not help but feel a stirring in my national pride as I listened to this man talk about the greatness of America.  I also felt saddened by the fact that these words were not uttered by our elected officials who often would rather disparaged our “mistakes” and outline how much harm the United States has done to the world and the planet.

I first heard of Lord Monckton back in April.  He was the science advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.  If you translate that into current White House language, Lord Monckton was the “science czar” for Thatcher.  Monckton is also an avowed manmade global warming denier, or skeptic.  Back in April Al “the planet has a fever” Gorewas scheduled to testify before the House Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment as a “star” witness pimping man-made global warming.  Lord Monckton was also invited to participate by Republican members of the committee.

The story broke that the Democrats refused to allow Lord Monckton to appear with Al Gore presumably because that would be a story that the main stream media could not ignore.  Monckton was not told of the withdrawal of the invitation until his plane landed in Washington where Lord Monckton told reporters;

al-gore-environmental-expert“The House Democrats don’t want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face.  They are cowards.  The Democrats have a lot to learn about the right of free speech under the US Constitution. Congress Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) refusal to expose Al Gore’s sci-fi comedy-horror testimony to proper, independent scrutiny by the House minority reeks of naked fear.  Waxman knows there has been no ‘global warming’ for at least a decade. Waxman knows there has been seven and a half years’ global cooling. Waxman knows that, in the words of the UK High Court judge who condemned Gore’s mawkish movie as materially, seriously, serially inaccurate, ‘the Armageddon scenario that he depicts is not based on any scientific view.”

That would have been a debate for the ages!  The Republicans replaced Monckton with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich who seems to have accepted the manmade global warming shtick and would be an acceptable person to testify to Congress.  It must have been a debate that kept one on the edge of ones seat having two politicians who agree about the basic premise of man-made global warming debate each other.  Once again the GOP let us down.

global warming swindleLord Monckton, however, has not let us down.  He has put his research into a detailed report 35 Inconvenient Truths – The Errors in Al Gore’s Movie.  If your school is choosing to screen Gore’s fancy PowerPoint, you must insist that they also screen the rebuttal, The Great Global Warming Swindle

This happened to me last year with one of my daughter’s teachers.  He mentioned at an open house that he was going to show portions of the Gore flick.  When I got home that night, I forwarded information to him about the errors in the movie and suggested that he show the rebuttal. I even offered to purchase and donate the DVD to the school district.  He declined, but my daughter reported that he did present the information in a balanced manner and provided information on the factual errors.  It turns out that he was NOT a liberal!  There are some vestiges of conservatism even inside public schools.  I am happy to report that she has another conservative teacher this year.

Global Warming has again been thrust to the forefront as President Obama prepares to attend a summit in Copenhagen to sign a treaty on global warming.  He may be counting on his next visit to have better results than his last ill-fated Olympic trip.  Lord Monckton has again appeared in the United States and advocates against signing this treaty.  His speach to Bethel University is engaging and thought-provoking.  He presents a compelling case against ratifying the treaty as it will compromise United States sovereignty.

Similar efforts to attack our sovereignty have been attempted before in the Law of the Sea Treaty (“LOST”).  The moderately good news is that ratification of any treaty will require two-third majority of the Senate, but the bad news is that is only 6 GOP members need to cross the isle (only four if you consider Senators Graham and Snowe – who seem to be RINOs).

I had the good fortune of listening to Lord Monckton on Glenn Beck’s radio show yesterday.  He is an engaging man and has committed the time and effort to spread this message.  He is a True American Hero and let’s hope that we succeed.

Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
We know what Master laid thy keel,
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steel,
Who made each mast, and sail, and rope,
What anvils rang, what hammers beat,
In what a forge and what a heat
Were shaped the anchors of thy hope!
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
’Tis of the wave and not the rock;
’Tis but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale!
In spite of rock and tempest’s roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee.
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o’er our fears,
Are all with thee,—are all with thee!

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

God Bless America

Lord MoncktonUpdate – Lord Christopher Monckton has gotten some attention at least on Fox News and other balanced media outlets.  I am still impressed with his love of United States and his passion for pulling back the curtains to expose the man made global warming (AKA climate change) schemes.  Al Gore has still managed to avoid debating anyone of stature and most recently several liberals have suggested Sarah Palin as an adversary.  I love Sarah Palin, but she is not the person I want to put up against Gore.

It sickens me that liberals always try to set the rules and the terminology.  I do not want Newt, Sarah, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, or even Rush debating Gore.  I want Monckton and I want him now! (to debate Al Gore)

My friends at I Hate The Media (still the best name of any web site) posted this video of Lord Monckton as he debated a Greenpeace demonstrator in Copenhagen.  Lord Monckton is very deferential to the woman and provided her plenty of rope.  I love the look on her face as she realizes the triviality of her views.  Now imagine that the woman is actually Al Gore.  I would actually pay to see that debate.  I would not pay Gore, but the money could go to some non man-made global warming charity and they would have to spend the money on real stuff like food and clothing and not for anyone to plant trees.

I think we all need to thank Lord Monckton and his guerrilla warriors fighting against the Natural Climate Change Deniers.  I wish there was a way to let them know that we are listening and watching.

Remember we surround them!
