Framing the Dialogue

True American Hero – Lara Logan

Many may remember Lara Logan’s ordeal during Egypt’s Arab Spring.  She was reporting on the uprising (supported by the Obama Administration) when she was attacked and raped multiple times.  I have to admit to knowing very little about her politics or her professional work.  Ms. Logan recently did a piece for CBS and 60 Minutes of all news outlets on terrorism.  Her findings shatter the Obama foreign policy of apology and appeasement [my words not hers].  The following are some quotes from a recent speech on terrorism followed by a video of the speech.  It is worth watching and while scary it is refreshing to see a reporter speaking truth rather than talking points.

“Eleven years later, ‘they’ still hate us, now more than ever.  The Taliban and al-Qaida have not been vanquished.  They’re coming back.” I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand, that there is a major lie being propagated…The lie is that the U.S. military has tamed the Taliban.  There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years,.  It is driven in part by ‘Taliban apologists,’ who claim ‘they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban.’  It’s such nonsense!”

“Al Qaeda is not an insurgency, is driven by ideology and wants to kill us all, on our own soil if they must and even if we pull all our troops out of Afghanistan.”

“Al-Qaida is not on the run. The Taliban are not being tamed. Pakistan is not cooperating with us. Our enemies are no less eager to kill Americans than they were before 9/11. They will not stop their war against us just because we stop fighting them.”

“Exact revenge…let the world know that the United States will not be attacked on its own soil — that its ambassadors will not be murdered, and that the United States will not stand by and do nothing about it.”

The sad part of this is that Logan is being trashed by colleagues for “forgetting that she’s a journalist” as if what she said is opinion rather than truth. It is not sad that Logan is being criticized, but that the apologists will make excuses for radical Islam until their throats are slit.

She is not an American. She is from South Africa.

Thanks for that information. “True American” heroes have not always been American citizens. They are given this honor by me for speaking truth to power and standing up for what is right. Ms. Logan has done this while working for a news organization tainted by many acts of shoddy journalism.
