Framing the Dialogue

The Enemy Within

“Listen to me. We’ve traced the call… it’s coming from inside the house”

when a stranger callsI don’t know if you saw the suspense movie, When A Stranger Calls, but when the police made this call to the young lady in the house, chills went up my spine.  The stalker was actually inside the house where everybody assumed that she was safe.  Where we all think we are safe.

As I watched the recent presidential campaign many things struck me as odd, but one in particular.  Barack Obama enjoyed the support of the United Mine Workers Union.  That in itself is not a big surprise as he had the support of every union as Democrat politicians usually have.  The interesting part was when you factored in Obama’s comments regarding the future of coal:

“What I said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is more — that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there. I was the first to call for 100 percent auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gas was emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there to be presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that coalplugthey would have to meat the rigors of that market and the ratcheted-down caps that are placed — imposed every year.  So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.” [emphasis added]

How does the union that represents workers who make their living mining coal support a candidate who proposed a cap and trade system that would “bankrupt” the industry that consumed the coal?  It made no sense to support a guy who hoped to put you out of business.  Who was the enemy within this union?

As cap and trade legislation plods forward more focus seems to be on the Obamacare legislation another organization seems to be tossing its members under the bus to support Obama.  The American Association of Retired People (“AARP”) has officially supported a health care plan that will undoubtedly curtail benefits to senior citizens; the folks that pay dues to belong to the AARP.  Again an organization supports something that will have a negative affect on its members.  This one makes some sense as AARP sells insurance to its members so the organization may make some money at the expense of their members who may need more insurance after Obamacare passes.  Unlike UAW members, the seniors have been leaving AARP by the thousands.  The question remains regarding who was the enemy within this organization?

Seniors have a new option with the Association of Mature American Citizens (“AMAC”) to advocate for seniors.

medical_malpracticeAnother organization that you would expect to be in the mix regarding health care reform is the American Medical Association.  Why does the AMA support health care legislation that promises to lower reimbursements to their members, institute government panels that will prescribe treatments, and yet failed to include provisions to improve medical malpractice?  Doctors are speaking out and pointing out that the AMA membership only includes around 20% of doctors and does not represent all doctors’ views.  The Obamamedia loves to play this up for the President.   Again, who was the enemy within this organization?

My last example may be more insideous as there was a directed effort to plant individuals within our elections system.  In the 2000 presidential election Florida’s Secretary of State garnered world-wide attention during Gore’s legal challenges to the election that he lost.  The Secretaries of State have the authority of certifying election results and implementing voting laws.  Democrat organizations created an organization, The Secretary of State Project, to specifically support Democrat candidates for these positions.  Their efforts seem to be working as they were able to elect their candidates in five key states during the last presidential election.  Who are these people who are trying to play with our elections?

Maybe like water bugs scatter when light is shown on them, these enemies from within will seek cover when exposed.

I am not holding my breath.
