Framing the Dialogue

The BIG Black Lie

“I gave him the challenge that I give to all Democrats. If a Democrat can name one thing specific to Democrats that has improved the lives of black people and justified blacks voting 94% Democrat for the last five decades, then I will pay his monthly mortgage payment once for each issue on which he is right. For the record, I have made this bet with Democrats from all walks of life, including political science professors, and have yet to pay a mortgage.”

I guess that I had a different expectation when I first heard about Kevin Jackson’s book about “how I learned the truth about the Democrat Party.” I expected The BIG Black Lie to be a standard in your face kind of conservative advocacy book, but was pleasantly surprised to find it to be an autobiography of a young man who had every opportunity to become a Democrat and couldn’t live that lie. This book was more of an affirmation of the existence of the lie and a glimpse into the lie. I cannot say that I really understand it any better. Let me reword that as it gives the impression that Mr. Jackson hadn’t fully covered the subject. I do not understand how a majority of blacks still identify with the Democrat party given the history of Democrat racism and obvious desire to buy votes rather than truly help blacks.

This is Kevin’s story and how when faced with choices was able to recognize the path toward salvation (conservatism) and away from socialism (liberalism). Jackson’s story is compelling and a story showing that racism may be less of a black/white issue and more of a class issue happily exploited by race baiting Democrats even though,

“All legislation to protect the rights of black Americans was initiated by Republicans…All legislation to prevent blacks from voting was sponsored by Democrats…Civil Rights for blacks was all the work of Republicans, and Democrats were just ‘hangers-on.’”

Perhaps the book should be The Big Black Question. Why do black still overwhelmingly vote for Democrats? Why do blacks ignore these facts,

  • The historical record of the Democrats against blacks’ rights
  • Democrats have liberal social views versus a majority of blacks having a conservative viewpoint
  • The Democrat alter of abortions where millions of black babies are killed
  • The obvious destruction of the black family by Democrat policies and the addiction to government money in exchange for Democrat votes.

“If you subsidize a behavior, it increases. What once was called bad behavior, like laziness and carelessness and lack of interest in ‘making something of yourself,’ now becomes profitable. Human nature what it is, that behavior will increase according to the level of its subsidy. If the money keeps coming, more and more people will behave this way. It’s the easiest job anyone ever did. You don’t even have to get out of bed…they’re addicted to our money, quite literally.”
