Aunt Sammie’s Day Care

I ran across a wonderful daycare service recently that many my age would have appreciated when our children were in need of day care. Aunt Sammie’s Day Care provides care, food, and education services to your child and best of all it is FREE. I was interested to find out that Aunt Sammie offers care to children from “prenatal to aged three” in one of their programs. Child care before they are born! You’ll be pleased to know that Aunt Sammie’s is in fact a non-profit corporation with nearly 2,900 locations with over 56,000 classrooms and served over one million in 2009-2010. Did I mention that it is FREE?

Coptic Ruse

The Coptic Christians are perhaps some of the most faithful Christians and they have to be as their places of worship seem to in Middle East countries dominated by Islam. As a minority surrounded by many hostile people their faith must be strong. I have to admit that I know very little about this church other than occasional news stories where one of their churches happened to be burned down during Muslim protests.

A recent headline from The Washington Post caught my eye recently,

A House divided against itself cannot please constituents

In this series I choose a current news article and you decide via a multiple choice format which terms were used and whether others would have been more accurate…….

It’s hard to imagine what could drive public __________ (disgust, love, approval, opinion) of Congress even lower than it has been this year. But a pending public ethics trial of one of the House’s most senior __________ (Democrats, Republicans, Democrats, Democrats) (and possibly a second) and an angry, prolonged__________ (hissy fit, tirade, weiner session, melt-down) on the House floor that has gone around the cable networks and YouTube just may be the answer.

Abstinence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

This is a favorite story that I heard on the radio a few years ago…

The local school district had scheduled a meeting with parents before implementing their new sex education program.  As expected, the auditorium had a lot of interested parents in attendance.  The administration went through the curriculum and referenced all the relevant research supporting their lesson plans.

A father in the audience listened for a while and noticed a conspicuous absence of abstinence from their strategies.  He screwed up his courage and asked why.  His question was met with snickers from the audience and condescension from the educators.  They were kind enough to prove him how wrong his views were.  They were the experts after all.  You can imagine this poor man slinking in his seat after what seemed like a scolding.

Global Warming At 10 Degrees

March 1, 2009 Update:  Columnist George Will dared to question the legitimacy of the man made global warming theory on Thursday.  His column appeared in the Washington Post and newspapers across the country.  You MUST read the column.  The furor started shortly thereafter.  You would think that he was Michael Vick hosting dog fights.  The global warming alarmists have a problem with Mr. Will.  He has a loud voice with which to fight back and that he did today with another column.  I love it!
