True American Hero – Betsy McCaughey

mccaugheyBetsy McCaughey is the former lieutenant governor from New York.  It is unclear how a Pittsburgher ended up in New York, but we will forgive her as she has become one of the most articulate voices for sanity in the health care debate.  In a nutshell, she has been speaking against the massive overhaul proposed by the Obama Administration.  She has had the nerve to use facts and figures to dispute claims by Pelosi, Reid, and Obama to scare folks into supporting their efforts.  With all of their efforts, however, Rasmussen reports that 54 percent of Americans oppose the new plan (44% strongly opposed) while 42 percent (down from 45%) support the plan (only 23% strongly support).

Update – Cash For Clunkers

Cash For ClunkersMuch has been written about the notorious Cash For Clunkers program.  Supporters relished in the fact that it was very popular and spurred automobile sales.  It should not be a surprise that a program that gives money away will be popular (at least to those getting the money) and should increase sales.  Opponents claimed that the program was a waste of money and rewarded people who probably did not really need the money and eliminated thousands of serviceable cars from the secondary market.

Trickle…Yes MSM It’s Starting!

leaky_faucetEarlier in the month in my posting, Groundswell, I provided a case that there is a true groundswell of opposition to excessive government.  I will admit that it started as more of a anti-liberal Democrat movement, but the ranks have been joined by many others.  I believe that this groundswell has turned into a trickle (this is a positive development) as we are seeing the main stream media starting to open up and do their jobs although still to a limited extent.

I believe, and we should remember that this is a gathering storm against politicians of all party affiliations.

Finally We Hear From Industry On Healthcare

If you are fortunate to have a Whole Foods Market near you, it is a great (though not cheap) place to shop for organic produce.  I would have to drive my SUV forty minutes to get to the closest one so we only occasionally shop there when we happen to be nearby.

You would expect the co-founder and CEO of an organic food market to be pretty far to the left and John Mackey may be just that, but his recent actions are heartening for those of us wanting to be heard above the din of the health care debates.  I have had several posts on the issues and even prepared a down loadable post card that folks could use to contact their elected representative.  On the card, I listed several suggestions where reform could start.
