The liberal, mainstream media is all a twitter about the latest unemployment numbers coming out of the Department of Labor.  Yes our unemployment rate is now a healthy 8.6 percent and that number grabbed many headlines along with the pronouncement that that is the lowest rate since March 2009.  Unfortunately that is all that most of the American public will hear going into the weekend.  Left out of most news blurbs was some rather important facts;

  1. You’ll hear that payroll increased by 120,000 jobs, but probably will not be told that most of those jobs are temporary, holiday seasonal positions which should make for some somber January 2012 numbers.

The hoopla surrounding the Obama’s “historic” trip to India following the expected Democrat/Obama thumping at the polls on November 2 has really not reached fever pitch yet so I wanted to get my licks in early.  Amid concerns of Indian officials that his visit will increase the likelihood of violence as extremists look for publicity the level of security has been heightened.  While the President deserves security, maybe some accommodations could be made for economy.  We are in the worst recession since the Great Depression after all.

National Lamepoon’s Vacation

Obama vacationI had thought about the framework for this posting for a little while, but only recently found the hook that I wanted to use.  I was checking in on Facebook and noticed a posting from a friend of a friend ”liking” a photograph [that actually makes sense if you use facebook] of President Obama and his family returning from their Hawaiian vacation.  Many of the friends posted comments and since I surmise from the photograph that most of these folks are young I was not too surprised at the comments.

“Great picture. What a beautiful family. I’m so glad they got a chance to escape the maddness for a short vacation.”
