Unions and local Democrat politicians have devised wicked schemes to favor union companies from minimum wage rates, to prevailing wage requirement, to Project Labor Agreements (prevent non-union companies from bidding on publicly funded projects). Allegheny County (Pittsburgh area) has reached a new low with the latest tactic. Rather than their usual playbook favoring union shops, they now are going directly after local businesses that are not unionized.
One of my favorite authors, Thomas Sowell, penned an article critical of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Ordinarily I would concur with his perspective, but cannot bring myself to “park at his ranch” on this issue (I apologize in advance if I lapse into more farm/country colloquialisms). A local syndicated radio host, Jim Quinn, has taken up the mantle and has been talking about the issue. As is often the case when the lame-stream media take up an issue they only scratch the surface thereby missing the bigger picture. In this case these are two conservatives who I respect. This was an unusual Easter for us as our son celebrates his 21st birthday on Easter. Our family got together the day before to celebrate our family Easter so it was just going to be us today. We decided to get him as one of his gifts a case of beer. I am sure that it was his first one! We needed some for home also so I thought to get two different kinds and divide them up giving us both some variety.
