Framing the Dialogue

As the Republican presidential race heats up (a little) it has become interesting to see how the candidates fates slide up and down.  There seems to be no doubt that Mitt Romney is the choice of RINOs, the left, and the main stream media.  I agree with them that Romney will be a great candidate…for Obama to beat.  We had the ascension of Bachman only to see her blow a tire with her position that the Gardasil somehow causes mental retardation (I know she thought she walked back the comment, but she kept repeating it.  The media is off the hook and no longer have to dedicate resources to destroy her.

Mobs’ Rules (Democracy)

As a rational man it is hard to watch what has been going on in the Democrat Party without feeling pity for their plight. Don’t get me wrong I really hope their woes continue for the next several decades even though they need to win once in a while to keep the Republicans-In-Name-Only (“RINO”) in their place. But their recent level of disdain for the founding principles of our country is outrageous. Michelle Malkin wrote a great article on the hide-and-seek Democrats and offered this quote;

Pale In Comparison

One of the topics likely to take center stage this summer is going to be the crowd that will seek to get the Republican Party nomination to take on Barrack Obama in the 2012 presidential election. I have no doubt that there will be a crowd as many sense Obama’s weakness and a country tired of the poor economy, big government spending, and Washington in general.

True American Hero – Senator Jim DeMint

Forget about the John McCains, the Mitt Romneys, the Newt Gingrichs, the Rudy Guilianis, the Mike Huckabees, and dare I say it…the Karl Roves.  These politicians had their day, but now it is time to fade away.  These folks have done their damage to the Republican Party and seem to enjoy the lame stream media limelight too much for my taste.  I no longer want a party that goes along to get along.  I want a party and leaders within that party who FIGHT for American values of small government.

A Missing Link?

This is not a posting about evolution or intelligent design, but it does contain an element of biology.  I wish that I knew more about the brain and critical thinking processes in the human brain.  I cannot seem to grasp the way big liberal think.  Do they have a part of their brain that is overdeveloped?  I suspect it is an underdeveloped are, but wanted to give them the benefit…initially.  The progressives see life and American so much differently than I do I sometimes have doubts about my own clarity (only briefly).

Maybe they are right?

Blinded By The D.C. Lights

While many of us conservatives are not the least bit surprised that Democrat leaders don’t understand the hopes, fears, desires, expectations we have for our country, I have been more than a little surprised at the blindness of so many Republicrats to the same issues.  As a registered Republican (though not for long – can you say independent) I was rather discouraged when our presidential nominee was ordained long before the primary in my state.  Even more perplexing was the fact that Democrat voters and pundits had more say in that selection than millions of registered Republicans.  The turnout in the 2008 election is a testament to the disgust many of us felt, though I swallowed and voted for Palin/McCain.

News Briefs Volume VII

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

This edition is all about Obama’s bad week though Americans who rely on the mainstream media missed most of the implications.

Brief 1:  Obama and his employees Tim Geithner (Treasury Secretary) and Ed Whitacre (Government Motors CEO) were all a tizzy when GM paid back part of their TARP loans…with interest.  GM even made a commercial to announce the success of the program.  This news of such a government success couldn’t come at a better time for Obama as he looks to take over Wall Street.  Unfortunately Sen. Chuck Grassley and some others (including the Inspector General for the TARP program) read the fine print on the alleged payback…with interest.  Grassley stated;

A Third Party

As we wait to see if we get health care shoved up our posterior a subtopic is how the electorate will react to those who voted to stick it to us.  I got this note from a friend:

“I read some articles recently in which both Karl Rove and Mitt Romney warned tea party activists against supporting 3rd party candidates in elections.  They both seem to think this will divide the Republican vote and increase the chances of the Dems staying in power.  What is your opinion on this?

RINO-ectomy

rino milk cartonRecent events have highlighted the need for the Republican Party to take a closer look at what they stand for.  Perhaps the most prominent example took place in New York State’s 23rd congressional district.  Republican John McHugh resigned the seat to become Obama’s Secretary of the Army leading to a runoff election.  The New York Republicans chose “moderate” Dede Scozzafava to run on the Republican ticket.  Never one to miss the opportunity to get in front of the camera, Newt Gingrich endorsed Scozzafava with his fellow Republicans; House Minority Leader John Boehner, Minority Whip Eric Cantor, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, and Representative Kevin McCarthy, who is in charge of recruiting GOP candidates to run next year.  The Republicans also reportedly spent nearly $1 million on her campaign.

Senate GOP Won’t Rush Health Care Bill

ObamacareYou would hink that this headline from a Reuters story would offer some comfort to conservatives like me who are very concerned about the government’s take over of the American health care system, or as it is widely known, Obamacare.

The check is in the mail.

The article quoted Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell; “This will be on the floor for quite a long time.”  Once again, that should be comforting.  The article also said that McConnell would not elaborate on the time frame for the bill’s consideration.  The Senate it seems is not rabble like the House; “There will be a lot of amendments over a lot of weeks.  I mean, the Senate is not the House.  You saw in the House three votes and it was over in one day.
