Update 2 – Liberal Alters – Unions

It’s been a whole day since I updated the Union Liberal Alter, but the events in Wisconsin scream for comment.  First off a little recent history.  In 2008/2009 we were repeatedly told that “elections have consequences” and that Democrats won and they could rule as they pleased.  It turns out that the electorate was not very pleased and in 2010 we had more of those election consequences only this time the Republicans swept.  The Republican sweep in the U.S. House was the primary focus of most news reports, but perhaps more importantly was the Republican sweep in the states.  The Republicans now have 29 governorships and have “more seats in the state legislatures than they have had since 1928″ and they are itching for real change.

My Name is Mitt and I’m a…

I have recently noticed a slick advertising campaign that has been running on television and radio.  They advertisements usually feature “normal” people doing cool activities and end with the catch-phrase, “My name is blank & I’m a Mormon.  One night my daughter asked why the church “advertised” on television.  It always seemed to me that the Church of Later Day Saints (Mormons) had always run some family-oriented ads, but these new ones were quite different and more frequent.  I have even started to see billboards along my commute from work.  Jeff Decker, who is a Mormon and adorns the billboard along the highway near my work, rides his motorcycle sans helmet, sculpts and loves his family.

Pale In Comparison

One of the topics likely to take center stage this summer is going to be the crowd that will seek to get the Republican Party nomination to take on Barrack Obama in the 2012 presidential election. I have no doubt that there will be a crowd as many sense Obama’s weakness and a country tired of the poor economy, big government spending, and Washington in general.

Nicked by the Bullet

A few weeks ago I postulated about how much damage the lame duck session of Congress would inflict on the American people (Duck Duck Screwed). Like my Amazon Wish List, liberals had their own, more costly wish list that we would have to pay for. Many of these items were specifically not brought to the floor prior to the election as they were vote killers and would have likely precipitated an even more lopsided win by Republicans.

Let’s NOT Make A Deal!

I have to confess that I am embarrassed by being fooled by Obama last week and his tax “deal.”.  I felt a sense of relief when he annouced an agreement with Republicans for an extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for ALL Americans.  The far left went nuts over letting the “wealthy” keep their own money as if not stealing it through government dictate is something to give thanks.  The official Republican spin was that this was a good deal.  As the week wore on, however, we come to find that this deal contained a good deal more crap.  As usual the Republicans gave a lot more than they got and the Democrats are still trying to load this bill up with their wish list or more realistically to buy votes so the measure can pass.  Here is a partial list of the pork, but none of this is in writing and has all been done behind door number three:

Separated At Birth – Rock Em/Blumenthal

 

Rock Em Robot:  Rock Em is a stiff, mechanical player in a two robot contest controlled by rough levers.  Rock Em Sock Em Robots was a very popular game forty years ago delighting countless children.  Rock Em’s plastic physique struck fear into the red robot where the loser had his block knocked off.

Robert Blumenthal:  Robert is a stiff, mechanical politician in a two person contest to become the next senator from Connecticut controlled by Democrats.  Democrats were a very popular party eighteen months ago delighting countless children and uninformed voters.  Blumenthal’s plastic physique shook with fear during his debate with the Republican McMahon where he had his block knocked off.

A Missing Link?

This is not a posting about evolution or intelligent design, but it does contain an element of biology.  I wish that I knew more about the brain and critical thinking processes in the human brain.  I cannot seem to grasp the way big liberal think.  Do they have a part of their brain that is overdeveloped?  I suspect it is an underdeveloped are, but wanted to give them the benefit…initially.  The progressives see life and American so much differently than I do I sometimes have doubts about my own clarity (only briefly).

The legislation gives regulators __________( latitude, unlimited power, control, plenty of campaign contributions)  and time to come up with new rules, requires scores of studies and, in some instances, depends on international __________ (approval, loans, agreements, scorn) falling into place.

A Third Party

As we wait to see if we get health care shoved up our posterior a subtopic is how the electorate will react to those who voted to stick it to us.  I got this note from a friend:

“I read some articles recently in which both Karl Rove and Mitt Romney warned tea party activists against supporting 3rd party candidates in elections.  They both seem to think this will divide the Republican vote and increase the chances of the Dems staying in power.  What is your opinion on this?
