MLK, Jr. Was a Republican

Many times as I read an article I find a few sentences that capture the essence of the piece. In “Phrase-e-ology” I’ll post some thought followed by key phrases. As always I’ll have a link (in blue) to the original article.

A few years ago Human Events posted an article about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the fact that he was in fact a Republican and generally, and contrary to the fiction taught and put forward by media, the Democrats fought AGAINST rights for blacks.  It is appropriate to review the FACTS (not the liberal narrative) about Mr. King, Jr., the Democrats, and the civil rights movement.

Lawless

As I sit in my house and earlier at work I am struck at how the world turns and turns as our country fades and fades.  If you read this blog you know that I don’t like the policies of Obama, Democrats, liberals, and progressives.  Their positions only make sense if the goal is the end of American as it was founded and prospered these last few centuries.  The latest bile to spew from the White House were two, in my opinion, huge decisions by our “Banana Republic” chief executive – B. Hussein Obama.

AP – Adulterated Press

I’ve gotten to the point that before I read a newspaper article (yes I still read the newspaper every day) I read the headline then where the news story originated.  For many news sources like the Washington Post, the LA Times, and the New York Times that is where I stop because their slanted reporting is more than I can take.  If the story looks interesting I’ll look for a more reliable online source.  One news source that seems both prolific and particularly biased is the Adulterated Press (or “AP”).

Puzzle Me This

“We came, we saw, he died”

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton (Democrat)

I happened to catch some of Sean Hannity’s radio show this afternoon.  He had as a guest long-time Democrat strategist and spokesman Lanny Davis.  Sean had devilish intentions of busting the chops of Davis about President Obama’s poll numbers and suggesting that just about any Republican candidate could win in 2012.  Davis differed on that and suggested that only Romney had the right stuff to challenge Obama (I have to admit to being leery about the Democrat’s consistent position, almost a longing, to have Romney be the Republican nominee).

Nine 9 Nuevo

As the Republican presidential race heats up (a little) it has become interesting to see how the candidates fates slide up and down.  There seems to be no doubt that Mitt Romney is the choice of RINOs, the left, and the main stream media.  I agree with them that Romney will be a great candidate…for Obama to beat.  We had the ascension of Bachman only to see her blow a tire with her position that the Gardasil somehow causes mental retardation (I know she thought she walked back the comment, but she kept repeating it.  The media is off the hook and no longer have to dedicate resources to destroy her.

In My Time

It seems that I grew up with Dick Cheney and hardly knew it until the last ten years.  Vice President Cheney’s political career and life really spanned my teenage years when he was with Nixon/Ford then Bush 1 then Bush 2.  There is perhaps no greater lightening rod in the Republican party than Mr. Cheney.  I sit near a gentleman at work who volunteered how much he hated Dick Cheney when he noticed that I was reading his book at lunch.  Like his career In My Time is a long account of his time in both the private and public sector.  Mr. Cheney provides a great deal of depth behind many of the most “controversial” decisions made during the Bush presidency.  I used the quotes around controversial because they perhaps weren’t so controversial when you read his side; a side of decisions that were not advanced enough for my taste.

Update – One To Watch

A little over two weeks ago I wrote, excitedly, about a potential Republican candidate for president in 2012.  Jon Huntsman had resigned as Ambassador to China and started an exploratory committee to seek the GOP nomination.  Huntsman seems to have the right credentials for a Republican nod, but a few on the right are already criticizing both his cozy ties with Obama and China.  I have pretty much given up on having another Ronald Reagan at the helm of the Republican Party and because I live in Pennsylvania with its late primary election date, the candidates are usually chosen.  Huntsman or perhaps more for me his father seemed a likely middle ground.

One To Watch

A few days ago I lamented about the weak slate of Republican presidential candidates lining up to take on Obama’s projected billion dollar war chest.  There has been an intriguing development in the arena as former U.S. Ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman has entered the fray.  Real Clear Politics has reported that Mr. Huntsman has formed a Political Action Committee to explore a potential run against Obama since he resigned his ambassadorship.  Mr. Huntsman has an impressive resume before serving as Utah’s governor he worked in the Reagan, Bush 1,  Bush 2, and Obama administrations.  He also had a solid record as a businessman working for the Huntsman Corporation (started by his father).

Mobs’ Rules (Democracy)

As a rational man it is hard to watch what has been going on in the Democrat Party without feeling pity for their plight. Don’t get me wrong I really hope their woes continue for the next several decades even though they need to win once in a while to keep the Republicans-In-Name-Only (“RINO”) in their place. But their recent level of disdain for the founding principles of our country is outrageous. Michelle Malkin wrote a great article on the hide-and-seek Democrats and offered this quote;

Update 2 – Liberal Alters – Unions

It’s been a whole day since I updated the Union Liberal Alter, but the events in Wisconsin scream for comment.  First off a little recent history.  In 2008/2009 we were repeatedly told that “elections have consequences” and that Democrats won and they could rule as they pleased.  It turns out that the electorate was not very pleased and in 2010 we had more of those election consequences only this time the Republicans swept.  The Republican sweep in the U.S. House was the primary focus of most news reports, but perhaps more importantly was the Republican sweep in the states.  The Republicans now have 29 governorships and have “more seats in the state legislatures than they have had since 1928″ and they are itching for real change.
