News Briefs – Volume XXXI – Very UnCONSTITUTIONAL

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories. This edition is all about how Obama’s unconstitutional actions WILL affect your life

Brief 1:  One option that a president has to get some of his controversial nominees appointed is to wait for Congress to recess and then is able to appoint them to a limited term.  I remember celebrating W’s recess appointment of John Bolton as U.N. ambassador.  Obama stired controversy on recent recess appointments because Congress was not actually in recess.  The Supreme Court and settled law had determined that if Congress was not in session for three or more days then they were in recess.  Obama, with the backing of his Justice Department waited ONE DAY to claim a recess and appoint his henchmen.  Fortunately we have a strong Congress who cares about maintain the delicate balance of the three branches of government and will soon fix/find a way to reverse the appointments – - Oh wait we don’t have enough Congressmen with the guts to take on Obama.

In The Year 2525

The year 2525 is probably the year when we “officially” find out from historians that conservatives were right and that Barney Frank and Democrat policies started the global financial meltdown and Obama’s policies like the Stimulus, Obamacare, and Dodd-Frank prolonged the agony.  That is because history is mostly written by liberal academics (I know that is redundant) and they have a slightly biased view of the world.

I am exagerating about the date 514 years from now, but consider that until recently most historical accounts of the Great Depression give FDR credit for ending it.  There have been books like The Forgotten Man which set the record straight, but few probably read this.  However nearly seventy years after the depression ended two UCLA economists place the blame where it belongs…on FDR.

Executive Power

The framers wrote the Constitution to provide for a separation of powers, or three separate branches of government. Each has its own responsibilities and at the same time they work together to make the country run smoothly and to assure that the rights of citizens are not ignored or disallowed. This is done through checks and balances. A branch may use its powers to check the powers of the other two in order to maintain a balance of power among the three branches of government. The three branches of the U.S. Government are: Legislative, Executive, Judicial

Parsimony – Obama Overhaul

In “Parse-imony” I break down current news stories with my pithy, running commentary…

First the headline…

Obama pulls plug on part of health overhaul law

…and now the story:

WASHINGTON – (AP) — The Obama administration says it is unable to go forward with a major program in the president’s signature health care overhaul law — a new long-term care insurance plan. [broken promises]

Officials said Friday the long-term care program has critical design flaws that can’t be fixed to make it financially self-sustaining. [Perhaps had they spent a little time doin some cipherin they could have figured this stuff out ahead of time.  It is hard to believe that the White House's fiscal projections were flawed.]

Nine 9 Nuevo

As the Republican presidential race heats up (a little) it has become interesting to see how the candidates fates slide up and down.  There seems to be no doubt that Mitt Romney is the choice of RINOs, the left, and the main stream media.  I agree with them that Romney will be a great candidate…for Obama to beat.  We had the ascension of Bachman only to see her blow a tire with her position that the Gardasil somehow causes mental retardation (I know she thought she walked back the comment, but she kept repeating it.  The media is off the hook and no longer have to dedicate resources to destroy her.

Are You Ready For Some Pressure

Few things are more iconic than Hank Williams, Jr singing “Are you ready for some football” before every Monday Night Football game.  Long after you’ve forgotten the score the jingle still resonates in your memory.  ESPN took the bold step of suspending their use of the famous tune because of some comments by Williams, Jr.made about President Obama.  It seems that Hank in not too fond of the policies of Obama and had the temerity to voice his disdain on Fox News.  That’s probably a double whammy; saying something negative about Obama and doing it on Fox News.  I can understand ESPN’s desire to avoid getting political as a sports channel, but I suspect that the issue may go a little deeper.  Perhaps they don’t want to come under pressure from one of Obama’s federal agencies…

News Briefs – Volume XXX Separation or Suppression

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories. This edition is all about how the progressive, secular left is waging war on religion allegedly in the name of tolerance.  The false claim of a constitutional provision requiring a “separation of church and state” has been liberally interpreted to attempt to remove any hint of religion from public places while the constitution actually states;

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

You decide whether the following briefs demonstrate a attempt to limit the free exercise of religion:

The OBA Administration

I’d like to suggest that the Obama Administration be renamed the OBA Administration or the Obama Back-Assward Administration.  When most of us have a problem we try to find and fix using logic.  For instance, my car was having some trouble starting so I had the battery and alternator checked.  If I were to act like the Obama Back-Assward Administration, I would probably have my key checked.  It would be funny except that these folks are “running” the country or should I say “ruining” the country…

Shifty Focus

You may be please to find out that with over 9 percent unemployment (and that’s a low accounting of the real unemployment numbers), a slowing economy, inflation soaring, and greater unrest about the Obama Administration they have decided to shift their focus to the private sector to create jobs after having added over 140,000 federal jobs. Obama’s chief economist, Austan Goolsbee, appeared on CNN and made the announcement

“Corporations have become profitable again. What we need to do now is get the private sector stood up.”

Three Faces of Barry

I am going to allege something that may shock you.  I have observed a national politician who may change his message based on the audience to which he is speaking.  Some, including me, would call this type of behavior two-faced.  If you read the title you probably have a guess to whom I am speaking…our President Obama.  Politicians have always done this and pretty much gotten away with it, but Mr. Obama has perhaps taken the “skill” to a new level and is in many cases “three-faced.”  Building on his most favored status in the lame-stream media and his Pied Piper-like hypnosis over his minions he seems unabashed and does not even attempt to hide this form of politics.  I guess if it keeps working he’ll keep doing it.
