War On Work

welfare stateThe Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2012, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. Household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support.  What’s the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $20.00 an hour.

If You Like It You Can Keep It

We have all come to learn that Barrack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and all of the other Demoncrats that wrote and pushed the Affordable Care Act (AKA ACA, Obamacare) down our throats lied.  The “grandfathered” plan was a hoax because they KNEW that very few plans could be grandfathered.  They continue the lie as they say “it’s not our fault that your insurance carrier no longer offers the plan that you liked” know full well that is not true.  The law was written to achieve exactly that.  I happen to work for an organization that has what can be described as a “Cadillac Health Plan” though to get it I accept a lower salary.  I don’t need a crystal ball to know that Obamaites are coming after me.  I am sure that I’ll be able to keep my plan…they’ll just tax the hell out of this benefit until I bleed.

Mushroom Harvest

profiles_mushrooms_5411_541637_media_xlargeThere is a saying where I am at my level in my organization.  “We are mushrooms…we are kept in the dark and fed shit.”  I am not sure that is a proper metaphor for the voting American public as they perhaps resemble ostrich who mythically bury their heads in the sand.  I remember years ago when an acquaintance who worked in the oil and gas industry said that he just go tired of the politics and tuned out.  He didn’t want to hear all of that anymore.  I can understand that emotionally as it is tiring, but tuning out is what gets up obaminations like Obamacare.

News Briefs – No Joke?

obama jokeI am not sure how long the mainstream media will nip at the heals of President Obama so I’ll just enjoy the feeding frenzy as they seem to have remembered some sense of journalistic ability.  This cannot last as they fundamentally hate center and center-right America.  I am going to do this news brief a little differently as I’ll just post my favorite quote from the liberal writer’s article with a link to the full post.  I hope that you enjoy as much as I have!

Brief 1:

Whatever It Takes!!!

The LeekMany of the great unwashed have been waiting over three years for the Affordable Care Act, affectionately known as Obamacare, to provide not only better health care, but free health care for many.  Their enthusiasm for the free stuff overwhelmed the $600,000,000.00 website that has been under design for most of those years.  Many frustrated folks have expressed concern that the website allowed them to enter all of their personal information, but when it came time to get their lower insurance quotes thinks fell apart and few were actually able to sign up.  An Obama administration official, who was not authorized to speak on the record, tried to calm those expecting free or cheap health insurance noting that “people don’t have to worry if they already set up an account and entered all of their personal and health information.  The IRS now knows all of this and will easily be able to find you.  These folks will be sure to get theirs!”

Wishes and Glitches and Healthcare Oh My

imageHealth and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stormed the Burgh yesterday to plug the Affordable Care Act snarkily referred to as Obamacare. With a big ASSist by Pittsburgh Steeler owner Dan Rooney. Rooney has not been shy about prostituting his football team to ASSist Obama in all things liberal. It did pay off as Rooney is coming off of his Obama-sponsored stint as Ambassador to Ireland. This latest gig has raised the ire of many conservatives as he used the publically-funded Heinz Field for the show. I don’t get the dismay or surprise. This Rooney and his Steeler empire have been feeding off of the public trough for a long time. They are a privately owned company until they need a new field, additions to the field, more seats in the field, the property around the field to name a few.

Health Benefit Primer

I am not sure that this is a “real” letter, but it has REAL information!

imageHey everyone,

Following up on [N]‘s email, I wanted to give to give some more background as to why we are considering a switch. In fact, I will take this as an opportunity to dive deeper into the health insurance world. Unfortunately, given the times we live in, we can no longer afford to be in the dark on this stuff. We have some tough choices ahead of us, if not now, then likely in a year or two. First, the short answer…

Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Usually when someone describes “light at the end of a tunnel” that is a good thing though not in this case.   I am in this tunnel (actually we all are) and this light is speeding toward us.  We are not really in a position to escape and the walls are too narrow for us to hope that is passes harmlessly by us.  What I am talking about is a notice that I received from my employer recently.  These notices are typical this time of year to outline issues/changes to the W-2 reporting.  They are generally unremarkable.  This year’s notice included this paragraph which is the “light” to which I was referring;
