De Bait Goes On

goffordsYou decide on whether the news is slanted against the Second Amendment. This article was front page of Pittsburgh’s “conservative” newspaper. Though it is an Adulterated Press (AP) story it ran in our paper without any attempt to get the facts straight. The use of the contrasting photographs should be enough to let you know which side the AP is on.  It would be very easy to take this bait.  I’d be willing to wager that AP offices have armed guards though they’re probably not armed with assault rifles. BTW Ms. Giffords was not shot with an assault rifle and there is a growing belief that assault rifles were not used in the Newtown school shooting as confirmed by NBC News on January 15, 2013.

Shall Not Be Infringed

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

About a year ago there was a tragedy near where I live.  A mentally disturbed man started shooting at the psychiatric hospital killing a young man.  The tragedy hit home even more when it was discovered that his sister had also been murdered a year earlier.  She was also shot.  The family recently held an event to raise money “to prevent gun violence.”  That is understandable, but I couldn’t help but wonder why just “gun violence?”  Why not all violence?  Why not try to stamp out violent people?  Why not try to have psychotics taken off of the streets?  It may sound trite, but guns don’t kill people…people kill people.  Do you doubt that a murderer will no longer murder if they cannot get a pistol?
