Homer Simpson: Homer is the “leader” of the animated television series “The Simpsons.” While lovable he frequently finds himself intellectually lacking and often appears rather dumb when faced with logical issues. Homer’s family and friends often have to come to his rescue when he makes massive mistakes. Viewers watch in awe at his antics in anticipation of further mishaps.
The Chinese, it seems, are at it again stealing American jobs. This time their “cheating” come in the form of providing subsidies to their “green” industries as reported in Pittsburgh’s Tribune Review. The charge was lobbied by the United Steel Workers union and they estimate that the Chinese government has provided more than $216 billion as subsidies to their “green technology” industries:

Brief 1: The Democrats and Obama have been making some noise about providing subsidies for the dead tree media. Maybe this is a quid pro quo since most newspapers have been propping them up for decades and Obama for the past few years. Before you get all freaky on this concept, remember that it has been used quite successfully in other countries. The United States would join the ranks of Venezuela, China, Russia (they’ve gone a step further and have actually “cancelled” some journalists to decrease supply), North Korea and Nazi Germany.
Finally someone from the Bush Administration is firing back. Sorry that may be in poor taste considering Dick Cheney’s hunting accident a few years ago. Cheney’s buddy survived the face full of buck shot, but Nancy Pelosi may not. Anyone who watches the former VP and is not impressed by his tone, knowledge, straight forwardness, and gravitas is in denial.
I was frankly often disappointed at the Bush White House for not being more proactive in defense of their policies. As a Bush supporter, I felt abandoned when they would not defend themselves even against the most vitriolic attacks. This policy was generally attributed to W’s respect for the office of the president and not wanting to lower the office to that level.
