Stockholm Syndrome

I was recently watching one of my favorite shows, Always Sunny In Philadelphia. In one episode the main characters were held hostage by some local bullies and one of the hostages talked about Stockholm Syndrome and even began to exhibit symptoms. Stockholm Syndrome is where hostages who have been held for a long time begin to share the values and beliefs of those who are holding them captive. I have a very healthy disrespect for the main-stream media as water-carriers for the Democrats and liberal causes, but I have begun to feel sorry for them. I do believe that they may actually have Stockholm Syndrome.

Sun’s Free

One of the things that I hope to accomplish with FramingTheDialogue is to link news stories and try to show their connection and often contradictions.  It is surprising, but not unusual to find more than one article on a related topic in different sections of the newspaper.  The most recent were two articles about CFL/Incandescent light bulbs that I wrote about in Watt TF.  Recently the following three articles were available on the same day though I cannot remember whether they were available on the same media outlet.

BHO Network

The new, open media has allowed virtually anyone to produce their own media outlet. For less than ten dollars you can register your domain name at GoDaddy, set up a WordPress account and be on your way. It’s getting the audience that is the tough part. (By the way thank all of you for continuing to read FramingTheDialogue! – tell your friends) If you have ten or twenty million dollars you can start your own cable network like Al Gore’s “Nobody Knows The Name Network” or Oprah’s “O” network. Even for big names like Oprah and Gore getting the audience is still the rough part. Neither of them has done particularly well.

Pools of Polls

If you are like me and pay attention to politics and current events you have been inundated the past number of years with polling data.  Conservatives tout the results of polls that reinforce their message and the same goes for the progressives on the left.  A persistent poll during George W. Bush’s presidency was about how many Americans were against the war.  The problem with the reporting was that left-progressive main stream media combined those who were just against the war (those on the left) with those on the right who felt that the United States was not doing enough.

ABRACADABRA

A number of years ago illusionist, David Copperfield, made the Statue of Liberty vanish.  Makine a 300+ feet tall statue that weighs 225 tons made his earlier feats pale in comparison.  Unfortunately for Copperfield and his fellow illusionists one of their kind had a popular television show exposing their secrets.  Obviously Copperfield was not able to make Lady Liberty disappear, however, the main stream media has taken illusion to a whole new level.

Flow – Go With It Lame Stream Media

It started as a relatively modest groundswell as average citizen awoke to the path politicians were forcing us down.  The groundswell was followed by a trickle as more folks got engaged and even the main stream media started to actually report rather than cheer on the Obama White House.

The groundswell and trickle has lead to a flow!

The first example is the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart.  Jon is a liberal stalwart who generally leans severely left while occasionally getting it “right.”  While the rest of the lame stream media ignored the Climategate scandal, Stewart made this broadcast.  This must have been a shock to Stewarts audience.  Ordinarily I would embed the video here, but it is no longer available on YouTube.  This link will take you to the clip.

Too Left To Fail

newspaper_stackA number of federal elected oaficials (intentionally misspelled) are testing the waters for a concept where they will take our money to bail out the main stream media (lame stream media, drive by media).  In April, John Kerry called for congressional hearings.  You should be encouraged that Senator Kerry cares so much about workers and the fate of our country.

“”America’s newspapers are struggling to survive, and while there will be serious consequences in terms of the lives and financial security of the employees involved, including hundreds at the Globe, there will also be serious consequences for our democracy where diversity of opinion and strong debate are paramount.”

Wuf Is Bwind

hempSome two years after the lover of Massachusetts Representative and Chairman of the powerful Financial Services Committee, Barney Frank, was arrested for growing pot in his yard, it has come to light that Rep. Frank (D-MA) was actually present during the drug bust.  Great job main stream media for finally letting people know that Frank was present during his lover’s DRUG BUST over two years ago.  I guess that this is not the same as a Representative sending suggestive texts to a page (who turned out NOT to be underage) that stayed on the front pages for weeks, but he was a Republican after all.

Trickle…Yes MSM It’s Starting!

leaky_faucetEarlier in the month in my posting, Groundswell, I provided a case that there is a true groundswell of opposition to excessive government.  I will admit that it started as more of a anti-liberal Democrat movement, but the ranks have been joined by many others.  I believe that this groundswell has turned into a trickle (this is a positive development) as we are seeing the main stream media starting to open up and do their jobs although still to a limited extent.

I believe, and we should remember that this is a gathering storm against politicians of all party affiliations.
