Framing the Dialogue

My Country Tis Of ME

I am not totally shocked that Mitt Romney lost.  I felt uneasy going in, but really was hopeful that folks would at least recognize that Obama’s policies were and are bad for America.  Living in Pennsylvania we Republicans never have a say in who is nominated for president.  I certainly did not like Mitt, but grew to respect him and like the ticket when he added Paul Ryan.  Obviously not everyone agreed as many conservatives stayed home and many voted for others.  Reading the news and reports since the election there seems to be plenty of blame to go around the Republican camp.  One thing that bothers me about the Republicans is how all of the crap comes out AFTER we lose.  The crap is carefully hidden.

Separated At Birth – Biden/Banzai

Banzai Hyena: Banzai of Lion King fame isn’t quite as bright as his de-facto leader, Shenzi. He is quick with stupid jokes and really easy to be offended — or more like: really glad when he can be violent in response to any stupid jokes from anyone who isn’t a hyena. He does not compete with Shenzi or Ed because they’re friends. When he isn’t laughing about his own jokes or Ed’s clumsy behavior then he is still hungry! As always. Hyenas play one kind of bad role in the life of Lions. On the Lion King Muck, most hyenas are evil. But there are nice hyenas and hyena cubs too! Well, not these three, that’s for sure.

Surprising Joke

I recently attended a workshop.  Pretty exciting I know!  Well after the introductions the first speaker got up and opened his talk with the following joke:

President Obama was visiting Queen Elizabeth.  As they were talking Obama asked her how she selects good people.  The Queen stated that she tests them to make sure that they are intelligent and promptly summoned Tony Blair to her office.  She gave Mr. Blair a quiz;  “if your mother and father had a child and it was not your brother or your sister who would it be?”  Tony Blair thought for a minute and answered, “it’s me!” the Queen smiled and Mr. Blair left them alone.  President Obama seemed impressed.

I Am What I Am

I’ve had my share of nicknames in the past.  Some nice; some not so nice or flattering.  Every time I got a nickname it was usually “given” by a friend or close acquaintance.  I don’t think even the less likable ones were really meant to harm me or truly disparage me.  In the last two plus years I have been called all sorts of names because I believe that I am Taxed Enough Already.  I don’t belong to any particular TEA Party though I have gone to a few rallies.  I hope that my blog affirms my belief in the principles of the Constitution, the free market, and good old capitalism.

With Friends Like These…

As someone who sits more in the middle (I don’t buy the “right” label anymore) I cannot help but chuckle as President Obama’s leftist friends start to treat him with the same level of respect as they used for President Bush. They have held their tongues for over two years, but as Obama faces the tough path of being elected versus running for office, some of his actions are leaving his “friends” unable to hold their tongues. It would be more humorous if the issues weren’t more serious and perhaps with the future of our country at stake.

Headline Humor – Volume I

I know many of these stories are serious, but the headlines removed the restrain from my brain and we get headline humor.  These are the actual headlines as I found on-line.  When you click on the headline you will be taken to the original story which more often than not has nothing to do with my vision of the headline.

News Briefs Volume VII

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

This edition is all about Obama’s bad week though Americans who rely on the mainstream media missed most of the implications.

Brief 1:  Obama and his employees Tim Geithner (Treasury Secretary) and Ed Whitacre (Government Motors CEO) were all a tizzy when GM paid back part of their TARP loans…with interest.  GM even made a commercial to announce the success of the program.  This news of such a government success couldn’t come at a better time for Obama as he looks to take over Wall Street.  Unfortunately Sen. Chuck Grassley and some others (including the Inspector General for the TARP program) read the fine print on the alleged payback…with interest.  Grassley stated;

Health Care Bull

There is going to be a lot written and spoken about the nearly 2,000 page piece of legislation that was hoisted on us yesterday.  There are many experts who will evaluate this piece by piece and page by page.  Some will love it most will hate it, but there will be huge push to pass this thing.  I have a few thoughts as we move forward:

  • oldvnewhcarebillFirst of all, kudos to Congress for actually making this available for us to read.  It is also nice that the representatives have the opportunity to also read the bill before they vote on it.  Even John Conyers may take the time to read this bill.

The Unfinished Sentence

I love Chinese food.  Sometimes it is an adventure trying some new food, but I have had great experiences as these restaurants.  A favorite part of the dining experience is getting the fortune cookie with the bill at the end of the meal.  I should clarify that I enjoy getting the cookie not the bill.  It can be fun sharing your fortune with your dining partners.

Over the years, I have collected some of my favorite fortunes even though many no longer are “fortunes.”  There is a game that you can play with your fortunes by simply adding the phrase “in bed” after you have read yours.  It certainly adds some humor to the meal, but you may NOT want to do this with work colleagues or young children.
