“Genius, scattershot-friendly (that is when he needed something), special, bristly, detached, insensitive, sensitive, socially awkward loner, crazy, intense, aloof, crazed shaman, charismatic, creepy, dark, complex, manipulative, abusive, narcissistic, brutish, driven, full of bravado, cold, brutal, emotional, temperamental, bratty, tyrannical, anti-loyal, untrustworthy, tactical, obnoxious, impetuous, autocratic, and insanely great.”
One of the things that I struggle with is the thought process of liberals. I have friends and family who share this affliction (being liberal) and knowing them as I do I cannot understand their thought process regarding liberal issues/alters. I really have tried to listen, to understand, to plot the way they think, a process that usually ends with my being frustrated and cutting off the conversation to avoid bad feelings.
Perhaps the quintessential example illustrating my frustration is the recent “quotes” from the soon-to-be-released biography on Apple’s Steve Jobs. Revered by virtually all for his contributions to technology and his leadership to one of America’s most iconic corporations…yes Apple is a CORPORATION! Here are some of the excerpts attributed to Jobs;
I’d like to suggest that the Obama Administration be renamed the OBA Administration or the Obama Back-Assward Administration. When most of us have a problem we try to find and fix using logic. For instance, my car was having some trouble starting so I had the battery and alternator checked. If I were to act like the Obama Back-Assward Administration, I would probably have my key checked. It would be funny except that these folks are “running” the country or should I say “ruining” the country…
You may be please to find out that with over 9 percent unemployment (and that’s a low accounting of the real unemployment numbers), a slowing economy, inflation soaring, and greater unrest about the Obama Administration they have decided to shift their focus to the private sector to create jobs after having added over 140,000 federal jobs. Obama’s chief economist, Austan Goolsbee, appeared on CNN and made the announcement
“Corporations have become profitable again. What we need to do now is get the private sector stood up.”
Barack Hussein Obama is perhaps back in full campaign mode. This is the perfect role for him as he can say whatever he wants depending on the audience and the lame-stream media will, um, cover, ah, his, um, ah, gaffes. Just last week the President spoke about jobs, innovation, and his new buzz word – investment – at the Orion Energies factory in Wisconsin. Obama spoke of the glory of the companies meteoric rise as a green energy company; the type of company that we need more of in the United States.
Those living in Western Pennsylvania have been the object of a blitzkrieg of advertising about gas. More specifically a very deep natural gas pocket found in the Marcellus Shale Formation. Some estimates put the volume of gas in the formation at 500 TRILLION cubic feet which has fostered a great deal of interest in drilling this formation which is concentrated in the West Virginia-Pennsylvania-New York areas. West Virginia and Pennsylvania seem to have the greatest potential. Capture of this gas found in very deep geologic formations is not without significant costs and risks to both the drillers and the environment. I would rather focus on the financial part, but did not want to overlook this issue.
The Chinese, it seems, are at it again stealing American jobs. This time their “cheating” come in the form of providing subsidies to their “green” industries as reported in Pittsburgh’s Tribune Review. The charge was lobbied by the United Steel Workers union and they estimate that the Chinese government has provided more than $216 billion as subsidies to their “green technology” industries:
The mascot of our local school district happens to be a dog. Needless to say there aren’t many sports games played that the famous song by The Baha Men isn’t blared over the loudspeakers ten years after the song was popular and 9.5 years after it was tolerable.
The “dog” in this post is none other than our esteemed VP, Joe Biden. For the life of me I cannot understand why he is not kept under wraps. Even the lame-stream media cannot smother all of the things that come out of his mouth. Maybe his freedom is part of a “contrast” strategy whereby Obama looks bright and measured by comparison. A more likely scenario is that by shooting off his mouth, BHO can always jettison him before the next presidential election in favor of a more “suitable” running mate. By “suitable” I mean Hillary (she is famous for wearing pants suits).
Blowback on windmills was the headline that caught my eye in the “letters” section of Pittsburgh’s Tribune Review. The letter was from Sarah Howell, the vice president, public affairs, for the American Wind Energy Association. Ms. Howell’s response to the original article titled The Windmill Sham was understandable given her position advocating windmills.
The original editorial piece was critical of the number of jobs created by government subsidies of the alternative energy industry. The author made the mistake of siting actual data from the Spanish government showing that the actual cost of each new job was around $333,333.00. Of course the response from the wind folks touted how many jobs were created because of government support/subsidy of the industry.
Sorry this is not a baseball post. Those of us living in Pittsburgh with the hapless Pirates; holders of the longest losing streak of all professional sports (17 years and counting) don’t talk about much about professional baseball. Our president gave his first pitch at a State of the Union speech and apparently did not hit the strike zone. I confess to not watching as I could not bear to see Ms. Pelosi popping up every 30 seconds, Obama’s use of the words “I” or “me” a gazillion times or his unusual speech pattern whistling his S’s. The fact that he is on television every 17 hours giving a speech did not weigh in his favor either. I played tennis on our Wii (I achieved “Pro” status during his speech).
