I find it interesting how the media, Hollywood elitists, and anti-semites everywhere are treating the Israel – Hamas war. So the good citizens of Gaza overwhelmingly vote Hamas into the leadership of their territory. They support Hamas further by allowing the terrorist group to live within their community. And by live within I mean store their rockets and bombs and cheer when Israel is attacked. Hundreds of rockets are fired into Israel without provocation other than the barbarians intense hate of the Jewish state. While only a few get through the defenses Israel finally has had enough and retaliates…and the world explodes…against Israel. WOW! Our weak-kneed White House occupant has never, to my knowledge, asked Hamas to stop the shelling, but always implores Israel to stop the killing.

I am starting to feel more and more like a conspiracy theorist these days. The timeline and events in the Middle East and Libya in particular have me wondering. We have so-called popular uprisings in Egypt, Syria, Yemen, and Libya. None of them have been particularly peaceful yet the World Order chose Libya in which to intervene. Why Libya? They do have oil, but from a geopolitical standpoint they are less disruptive than Syria (though the fact that they hate Israel like most U.N. members may be a factor). Egypt under Mubarak had been a decent ally to the West and fairly peaceful so you would think that would be a better place to try and influence even though Mubarak didn’t use his military to attack the protestors.
It is hard to even a few hours without hearing troubling news about the events in Egypt. I have a few thoughts that you may have already heard and wanted to share them without deep analysis that can only reasonably come after the dust has settled.
- I find it telling that the Obama Administration has delved deeply into the struggles of a nation ruled by a man seemingly unpopular with his people. A man who rules with an iron fist, but is friendly to the west and Israel. Obama’s daily calls for another country’s leader to step down is unsettling in that I thought he was against interference with the governance of other countries.
In his book, Decision Points, President George W. Bush mentioned the impact of a book authored by a former Soviet dissident. Natan Sharansky spent years in Soviet prisons simple because he was Jewish, wanted to leave the USSR, and was vocal about it. Sharansky shares his experiences first as a political prisoner in the Soviet Union then as an Israeli official. The Case For Democracy is his story and history as it relates to his experiences in perhaps the two most threatening periods of our time; The Cold War, and The Global War On Terror. Sharansky provides a compelling case showing “the power of freedom to overcome tyranny & terror.”
The United Nations was founded in 1945 against the backdrop of World War II and had lofty goals to ease international disputes, provide security, improve economic development and improve human rights. There are few who would argue against these goals even today, but did the United Nations experiment deliver? It delivered, but not really on any of those promises. Here we are 65 years later and the world has many disputes, security seems to be worse, we are in a severe economic downturn, and the UN is attacking the United States for human rights violations.
Whether you want to call it a “war on terror” as George W. Bush would or an “overseas contingency operation” as our current president prefers, we are at war. At least those who are waging battle against us are at war. I am not sure that politicians in Washington are at war or that the general public quite feels the war. This war almost came home to us again on Christmas Day with a Nigerian terrorist.
The 24-hour news cycle is buzzing about the G20 summit hosted by the citizens of the Greater Pittsburgh area and the speeches earlier in the week by numerous world leaders (and I HATE to call most of them leaders) at the United Nations. It was the usual bunch of blowhards, thugs, and apologists making claims and promising changes that will never happen. One of the most frightening things suggested is “a new world order” giving even more power to the various un-elected dictators (and many who were “elected”) who rule with an iron fist.
