Brush Back Pitch

The pitcher shakes off the sign from his catcher as the batter steps into the box.  He shakes off another sign and the catcher trots out to the mound to talk to his young pitcher.  The second baseman joins the discussion until the umpire calls for the game to resume.  Here is the stretch and the pitcher throws a fastball high and inside.  The batter has to leap backward to avoid being hit by the pitch.  The batter glares at the pitcher and says something to the catcher as he re-enters the box.

Update – I Got My Stimulation…Sort Of

Update May 14, 2009 – My subsequent paycheck reflected a more modest increase of around $15.00.  By the way, I took my daughter to Subway for dinner tonight and I had a few cents left over from the $15.00.  I confess that we splurged and opted for the meal deals that cost an additional $2.25 each.

I never received any explanation of the larger bump that I discussed in my original post.  The bottom line remains the same, however, all of this increase is not a tax cut as is being protrayed.

A Fair Tax

“Government does not tax to get the money it needs; government always finds a need for the money it gets.”

                                                                       Ronald Reagan

Happy “Tax Day” which actually refers to the day our income tax returns are due to be postmarked to the IRS.  There is actually a “Tax Freedom Day” as estimated by The Tax Foundation.  This is the day through which all of your earnings are taken by government (if they took it all first).  The 2009 Tax Freedom day was actually two days ago (April 13) which is the earliest it has been in some time.  After April 13, you theoretically work for yourself.

I Got My Stimulation…Sort Of

I have to admit being pleased to see an increase in pay in my paycheck today.  No I don’t work for Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac and will receive a big bonus as reported.  I work for a mid-sized organization and our management (I cannot bring myself to call them leaders) has already advised us non-union “management” staff not to expect any raises for 18 months.

We are not even going to get a cost of living increase.  I should have our management talk to Senator Inouye (D – Hawaii) as he feels that cost of living increases are not raises:

Fair Tax: The Truth

As I listened to the news a few weeks ago, my anger rose.  The report suggested that the Obama Administration was looking at cutting or reducing the tax credit available for home mortgage interest credit.  THAT’S MY DEDUCTION!  I was furious.

That’s how the politicians get you!  They dangle some little portion of tax code in front of you that “benefits” you and in order to preserve that tidbit you will probably accept most any “reform” as long as your deduction is left alone.  That is how they maintain power.  That is what our current tax code is…Power for the Politicians.

Living In The Twilight Zone

February 6, 2009 Update:  The Obama Administration’s continued flirtation with law-breakers keeps getting worse and worse and worse.  Here are his latest poor choices:

Secretary of the Health and Human Services - Tom Daschle:  It seems the former senator “forgot” to pay $128,000 in taxes over three years.  He paid the back taxes plus $12,000 in interest and penalties seemingly right before his confirmation hearings.  It was also disclosed that Mr. Daschle also made millions of dollars since he failed to win re-election in 2004.  He was paid by a law firm, but is not a lawyer and claimed that he is not a lobbyist.  If it gets paid like a lobbyist and looks like a lobbyist and smells like a lobbyist, he mustn’t be a lobbyist.
