Update – With Friends Like These

A few days ago I posted a number of comments by Obama’s “friends that were less than complimentary.  At the end I purposefully left off the thousands and thousands of gaffes by his running mate and the guy next in line to the presidency, Joe Biden.  I shouldn’t be surprised that even Joe couldn’t find a way to force me to use him in the post.  IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY THAT THIS LOOSE-TONGUED IDIOT IS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.  He is like an overdone SNL skit though all SNL skits are almost always overdone.  I have to grudgingly admit that the new teeth and hair look better than the old Joe.  You can put new hair and teeth on a pig, but it is still Joe Biden.

THE Perfect GOP Candidate

Ladies and Gentlemen…Introducing the Perfect GOP candidate!

Keys to the perfect candidate:

  1. Mitt Romney’s hair:  That’s his best feature physically, intellectually, conservatively, etc. though his campaign finances are quite attractive too.
  2. Rick Perry’s thumbs up:  Perry comes across as a very down-to-earth guy and this sells well though he may be a little too much like “W” for many people’s taste.
  3. Herman Cain’s Brain:  You have to love Mr. Cain’s wit, wisdom, and willingness to smash through the veil of political correctness barriers.  He speaks to the people as a person.

Separated At Birth – Selma Bouvier/Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Selma Bouvier:  Selma Bouvier is the raspy-voiced character on the long-running Simpsons animated television series.  Selma suffered and unfortunate bottle rocket accident and lost both her sense of taste and smell.  Selma’s favorite film actor was reportedly Troy McClure, to whom she was briefly married before discovering it was just a publicity stunt by McClure.  She was willing to live a sham for a while, but broke it off when she realized she couldn’t bring a child into a loveless marriage.  Selma inherited her deceased aunt’s iguana, Jub-Jub, instead of her mother, Jacqueline, due to Jacqueline’s apparent dislike of Jub-Jub.  Unlike her sister, Patty, Selma has shown brief moments of sympathy for Homer, primarily due to his unwavering loyalty to his family.  However, these instances are still very few and far between.  The Simpson’s creators fortunately only use her character infrequently so she doesn’t get on our nerves.  BTW what’s up with the hair?

Time Flies

Time FliesThis was an unusual book written by comedian Bill Cosbyas he struggles with getting older.  I found the book in the clearance rack at Half Priced Books and since I have always liked Cosby.  I remember listening to his albums (that’s right albums) when we were young.

Written when he was around 50 years old (1987) and taping his hit television show.  I found Time Flies an interesting, but not really funny book about a man growing old.   Maybe that is because I am nearly his age when he wrote the book.  It may hit too close to home.  I found the book to be a little self indulgent and repetitive.  The version that I read had a 23 page introduction that I had to skip after reading a few pages.
