Framing the Dialogue

Parsimony – Taxing Effort

I find it very interesting that a good number of these posts use an Associated Press story as the baseline for my commentary. I don’t seek out AP stories, but it often seems like their reporting often shows the bias of the mainstream media.

First the headline (with a link to the original story)…

GOP moves toward slashing, nixing states’ income tax

…Now the story

OKLAHOMA CITY — A year after Republicans swept into office across the country, many have trained their sights on what has long been a fiscal conservative’s dream: the steep reduction or elimination of state income taxes. [So far so good]

Parsimony – Edison Deconstructed

In “Parse-imony” I break down current news stories with my pithy, running commentary…

First the headline:

Bill fails to overturn light bulb standards

WASHINGTON — House Republicans on Tuesday failed to stop the enactment of new energy-saving standards for light bulbs they portrayed as yet another example of big government interfering in people’s lives. [“portrayed” is incorrect as the new standards are an example of government interfering in people’s lives by mandating what kind of light bulb will be available for them to use – taking choices away is interfering!]

Liberal Alters – Main-Stream Media

November 2008 was the liberal, main-stream media’s crowning glory as they were complicit in hoisting an unknown, untested, inexperienced person upon the American people.  The information about Obama’s past was out there, but was not covered in the lame-stream media who were too busy and too left-leaning to offer a balanced view of Senator Obama.  Ultimately it is the fault of the American voters who cast their ballots for Obama/Biden and relied on the media’s fairy tale about the first black president.  Not only was the press fawning over Obama, but they threw former favorite Hillary under the bus to support Barack and pushed very hard for Republican “maverick” John McCain to be the GOP nominee.  McCain was the candidate long before I even had the chance to cast my primary vote.

Derangement Is Hereditary

Sean Hannity dubbed it Palin Derangement Syndrome (“PDS”) as he described the vehement hatred that many liberals feel for McCain’s former running mate in the last presidential election.  The vitriol that lefties spew anytime Sarah Palin’s name comes up is mind-numbing and is actually getting laughable.  I have some old acquaintances that have found me on facebook and while I don’t do politics on that social medium, others do and some of the stuff they write is h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s!  The sad part is that many don’t know enough to even know what they are talking about.  They don’t seem to be able to discern between Tina Fey’s character and the real Sarah Palin.

Herding Cats

Now with over eighteen months in the White House the Obama Regime is having to come to grips with ruling versus running.  Even though he still seems to be in campaign mode, Obama has to be coming to the realization that being the President of the United States is not anything like community organizing.  He can no longer say anything he wants or make conflicting promises.  He is still doing it, but citizens have expectations that are not being met.

Has Anybody Seen…

Has anybody here seen our old friend Harry?
Can you tell me where he’s gone?
He screwed a lot of people,
But it seems the pols. they hide now.
You know, I just looked around and he’s gone.

Anybody here seen our old friend Nancy?
Can you tell me where she’s gone?
She ticked off the CIA,
But it seems she just up and left town.
I just looked around and she’s gone.
