Fresh off of celebrating the “retirement” of Weeper-of-the-House John Boehner I am finding it interesting the spin put on his sudden decision to “spend more time with his family.” Okay he didn’t say that. My guess is that he saw the handwriting (lack of support) on the wall and knew that even if he survived the attempt to dump him as the Republican House leader, he would be severely crippled. Hell he may not have been able to help Obama reach his goals.
I often enjoy a Sunday breakfast and read the local paper. Our “conservative” paper generally advertises their balanced news and conservative views. This front page, above-the-fold headline caught my eye;
Many times as I read an article I find a few sentences that capture the essence of the piece. In “Phrase-e-ology†I’ll post some thought followed by key phrases. As always I’ll have a link (in blue) to the original article.
I had this thought and included it in my My Country Tis of Me posting a few days ago. I heard a talk show discussing this very thing I had mentioned about the Republicans giving Obama everything he wants thus pinning everything on him. I know it sounds suicidal, but Mr. Arnold Ahlert posted the same thing, but in more detail and he did it two days before my post, though I hadn’t seen his until tonight. Here are some key phrases and as always read the linked article…in two parts.
This headline should alternately make your head explode, make you cry, or piss you off. Published by the Washington Post (Obama Post) last Thursday (click on the headline to be directed to the full article) it fallaciously attempts to paint the “Dem’s” as cost cutters because, I guess, their tax plan “costs” less.Â
ALL POLITICIANS, LAME STREAM MEDIA ELITISTS, LIBERALS, RINOS, OTHER STUPID PEOPLE should note that LETTING US KEEP THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE LEGITIMATELY EARNED SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A FREAKIN COST!Â
I was fascinated by these two side-by-side articles by Reuters News Service. The actually made it to page 3 and I doubt that Reuters wanted them to be printed beside one another.
Story one was about a poor company, LightSquared that developed a product that was going to provide a wireless broadband network all accross America. While that sounds great their “service” tended to interfere with all other GPS networks and satellites, even those used by our military. Still LightSquared fought the good fight and conviced the FCC to grant approval of the system. That’s when the firestorm started…actually no firestorm as you probably never heard of LightSquared (even though I included it in my top ten 2011 news stories – it was in No. 5). Stuff did happen as Congress (make that the Republicans) started getting involved and the FCC suddenly revoked their approval. The Reuters piece was all about the business and what their next step would be, perhaps bankruptcy! I thought this excerpt from the article was very interesting;
I find it very interesting that a good number of these posts use an Associated Press story as the baseline for my commentary. I don’t seek out AP stories, but it often seems like their reporting often shows the bias of the mainstream media.
First the headline (with a link to the original story)…
…Now the story
OKLAHOMA CITY — A year after Republicans swept into office across the country, many have trained their sights on what has long been a fiscal conservative’s dream: the steep reduction or elimination of state income taxes. [So far so good]
In “Parse-imony†I break down current news stories with my pithy, running commentary…
First the headline:
WASHINGTON — House Republicans on Tuesday failed to stop the enactment of new energy-saving standards for light bulbs they portrayed as yet another example of big government interfering in people’s lives. [“portrayed†is incorrect as the new standards are an example of government interfering in people’s lives by mandating what kind of light bulb will be available for them to use – taking choices away is interfering!]
November 2008 was the liberal, main-stream media’s crowning glory as they were complicit in hoisting an unknown, untested, inexperienced person upon the American people. The information about Obama’s past was out there, but was not covered in the lame-stream media who were too busy and too left-leaning to offer a balanced view of Senator Obama. Ultimately it is the fault of the American voters who cast their ballots for Obama/Biden and relied on the media’s fairy tale about the first black president. Not only was the press fawning over Obama, but they threw former favorite Hillary under the bus to support Barack and pushed very hard for Republican “maverick” John McCain to be the GOP nominee. McCain was the candidate long before I even had the chance to cast my primary vote.Â
Sean Hannity dubbed it Palin Derangement Syndrome (“PDS”) as he described the vehement hatred that many liberals feel for McCain’s former running mate in the last presidential election. The vitriol that lefties spew anytime Sarah Palin’s name comes up is mind-numbing and is actually getting laughable. I have some old acquaintances that have found me on facebook and while I don’t do politics on that social medium, others do and some of the stuff they write is h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s! The sad part is that many don’t know enough to even know what they are talking about. They don’t seem to be able to discern between Tina Fey’s character and the real Sarah Palin.
Now with over eighteen months in the White House the Obama Regime is having to come to grips with ruling versus running. Even though he still seems to be in campaign mode, Obama has to be coming to the realization that being the President of the United States is not anything like community organizing. He can no longer say anything he wants or make conflicting promises. He is still doing it, but citizens have expectations that are not being met.
