News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories. This edition is all about America the land of the free. The “free” used to refer to our God-given freedoms outlined in our founding documents, but the term has mutated over decades of nanny-state policies to mean what the government “gives” us for free. There is perhaps no better continuing example of the progressive, left-winged, drive-by, main-stream media’s collusion with Democrats than its continuing dumbing down of Americans. Although the scarier part is that many accept, even crave the handouts.

I have not had the opportunity to see the movie interpretation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged (i.e. the closest theater is about an hour away), but it feels more and more like I am living the story. I’ve read the novel twice since my first time when I was awakened bythe vultures depicted by Rand. It was hard to be disgusted by a parasitic nation that sucks the life out of productive people to prolong their reign. It is hard to watch former great companies like Jack Welch’s General Electric mooch off of Obama to gain favor for their subsidiaries while, in my mind, pretending to be a capitalist company. Businesses have always done this, but the level of government interference seems obscene.
Barack Hussein Obama is perhaps back in full campaign mode. This is the perfect role for him as he can say whatever he wants depending on the audience and the lame-stream media will, um, cover, ah, his, um, ah, gaffes. Just last week the President spoke about jobs, innovation, and his new buzz word – investment – at the Orion Energies factory in Wisconsin. Obama spoke of the glory of the companies meteoric rise as a green energy company; the type of company that we need more of in the United States.
A funny thing happened when I was recently looking to buy my first Obamagear t-shirt. I was interested in finding a unique shirt, but I just could not find what I was looking for. Should I go for the “believe” shirt or opt for the classic “Yes We Can?” I was actually leaning more toward the “Yes We Did” design.
As I was looking at web sites, I was pleased to find that I could buy all of my Obamagear easily at the NBC News Apparel web site. I could even purchase a bobblehead (there has to be a joke there), a collection of campaign photographs, and my favorite the Obama Action Figure. Unable to wait any longer, I dashed off my order.
