Obama Appoints Warren to Shape New Consumer Agency

In this series I choose a current news article and you decide via a multiple choice format which terms were used and whether others would have been more accurate…….

Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama named Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren a(n) __________ (adviser, czar, czarina, non-vetted adviser) to help  __________ (control, shape, subvert, empower) the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, calling her __________ (“one of the country’s fiercest advocates for the lower class,” “one of the country’s fiercest advocates for the middle class,”  “an elitist from academia with no business experience who will further my socialist agenda,”  “an awesome sista and you’re a racist if you oppose her nomination…wait there was no nomination process as she is just another one of my extra-Constitutional appointees with unlimited power and answers only to me…snap!”)

News Briefs Volume XIII

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

Brief 1:  This one should be under the title of “how cool is this.”  Kellogg Company has opened a store dedicated to their ever popular Pop-Tart (my favorite is iced brown sugar with cinnamon).  Pop-Tart World opened today in Times Square in New York City where you can design your own tart or have Pop-Tart sushi.  One can only imagine what they must have to charge per Pop-Tart to afford the rent in Times Square.  I wonder how long it will take Mayor Bloomberg to impose a sugar tax on the popular breakfast treat?

Love Obama Style

As I sat this evening to try to catch up on the happenings of the day I, of course, went to Drudge (link on the right…scroll down a little…there it is).  I was attracted to the headline/link stating “Obama says stop the finger pointing.”  Even though I generally read every word printed that Oblama speaks, I admit to skipping.  I had heard some of his remark discussing the “spectacle” of oil executive having the nerve to defend themselves after being summoned to testify in Congress.

Flow – Go With It Lame Stream Media

It started as a relatively modest groundswell as average citizen awoke to the path politicians were forcing us down.  The groundswell was followed by a trickle as more folks got engaged and even the main stream media started to actually report rather than cheer on the Obama White House.

The groundswell and trickle has lead to a flow!

The first example is the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart.  Jon is a liberal stalwart who generally leans severely left while occasionally getting it “right.”  While the rest of the lame stream media ignored the Climategate scandal, Stewart made this broadcast.  This must have been a shock to Stewarts audience.  Ordinarily I would embed the video here, but it is no longer available on YouTube.  This link will take you to the clip.

Update – True American Hero – Lord Christopher Monckton

Lord MoncktonUpdate – Lord Christopher Monckton has gotten some attention at least on Fox News and other balanced media outlets.  I am still impressed with his love of United States and his passion for pulling back the curtains to expose the man made global warming (AKA climate change) schemes.  Al Gore has still managed to avoid debating anyone of stature and most recently several liberals have suggested Sarah Palin as an adversary.  I love Sarah Palin, but she is not the person I want to put up against Gore.

Socialism (soh-shuh-liz-uhm)

Socialism is defined as:

Socialism 2“an economic system of government which advocates state ownership of the means of production with equal distribution of goods among the people.”

  • Socialist governments own the banks, car companies, farmlands, factories, and stores, and is the only employer and consequently owns the means of production.  The government controls all investments, production, distribution, income, and prices, as well as all organizations, schools, news media and formerly private societies.
  • Socialism is the antithesis of capitalism, opposes private ownership of capital or land, and rejects the free market in favor of central planning.

Autumn Approaches and Acorns Are Falling

My family went on a nature hike last weekend and I noticed that many of the oak trees are dropping their acorns.  Happy Fall days are here for deer and squirrels, but not so great for ACORN (“Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now”).

Although long ignored by the main stream (drive by) media, recent investigations by two journalists have finally blown the lid on the “alleged” corruption of this organization.  Both Glen Beck and Bill O’Reilly have investigated and broadcast some of the unseemly tactics of this organization, but it took videos taped by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles.

Update – Finally We Hear From Industry On Healthcare

Update September 10, 2009:  The original posting was about the co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods, John Mackey, speaking out about the health care debate.  Mr. Mackey made the serious mistake of offering very practical (and practiced by Whole Foods) solutions to some of the problems with America’s health care.  He did not do as most on the left do and blindly spew the tenants of Obamacare.  Big Mistake.

Whole Foods is a market that offers only organic foods and has a commitment to all things green.  You will find no Twinkies Spam on their shelves.  Whole Foods had been worshiped by the left as a testament to “sustainable,” organic lifestyle.  It was the anti-WalMart.  The operative word is “was.”

Update – Rule 13 Reversed

Update September 6, 2009:  In a not so stunning announcement, Van Jones was thrown under the bus and resigned as the Green Jobs Czar.  Jones, of course, blamed others for his troubles in his statement:

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

Mr. Jones, the folks who campaigned against you used YOUR WORDS to shed light on who you really are and most folks did not like what they saw (heard).  To quote President Obama, “you can put lipstick on a pig…”  One of the most humorous quotes about his resignation was from Fox News’ Andy Levy;

Rule 13

One of the most quoted “rules” in Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals book is Rule 13.  This rule is under the tactics section of the book and that is a better way to think of this.  In this tactic, you are taught to select a specific target, a person.  Government bodies (i.e. Congress, etc.) or buildings (i.e. Washington, city hall, etc.) allow blame to be shifted too easily.

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
