There is an old Jamaican proverb,
“no call alligator long mouth before you pass him by”
Essentially you should wait until you are a safe distance away before you call out a dangerous animal. Three months ago I wrote Fox Hunt after George Soros funded Media Matters announced that they were going after Fox News. Perhaps George Soros believed that his David would heroically slay the Fox News Goliath. This Goliath has been fighting back and most recently has begun actively questioning why Media Matters still enjoys non-profit status when they are blatantly participating in political activities. We know that only the NAACP is allowed to participate in political activities and still maintain their non-profit status. The Politico reported that,
Many media/political pundits love to make fun of Glenn Beck calling him many name from clown to chicken little. There is little doubt that Mr. Beck gives them pleny of ammunition as with his frequent reports on “spooky dude” or George Soros. The media seems like they want to portray Soros as this wealthy grandpa figure who has nothing but good intentions. Beck and his staff have done yeoman’s work compiling information about Soros’ behind the scenes machinations as he seeks his goal of a global economy headed by his inner circle. Soros the billionaire certainly has the resources to pursue this goal and Beck seems to have convinced fellow Fox host Bill O’Reilly of Soros’ intents.
Perhaps there is no greater proof that talk radio host and Fox News personality Glenn Beck has uncovered the truth and exposed much of the inner workings of the George Soros project. Like a spoiled child the left doesn’t like when it’s own tactics (read Alinsky) are used against them. Glenn Beck has perhaps mastered the techniques and has enough dedicated staff to take on the Soros machine; additionally Beck admits to his desire to expose the left and does not fear losing anything. He is very dangerous to the left as a crusader for what’s right.
News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…
Brief 1: In the town where ground troops first met in battle during the Civil War (Manassas, VA or Bull Run for you northerners) another battle is looming. Obama’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) held a press conference yesterday proudly announcing that 160 “foreign nationals” (illegal aliens) were arrested. All was not joyful in the story however as local politicians reminded that ICE has a slushy record regarding detaining illegals even when they have criminal records.
The United Nations was founded in 1945 against the backdrop of World War II and had lofty goals to ease international disputes, provide security, improve economic development and improve human rights. There are few who would argue against these goals even today, but did the United Nations experiment deliver? It delivered, but not really on any of those promises. Here we are 65 years later and the world has many disputes, security seems to be worse, we are in a severe economic downturn, and the UN is attacking the United States for human rights violations.
My original post dealt more with the political side of hypocrisy primarily because of the season in an important mid-term election. The main problem that I had with the post was to keep it focuses with all of the hypocrisy out there. Two recent items screamed for inclusion under hypocrisy.
As we sleaze toward America’s midterm elections in three weeks I found a source of light. I am enjoying the rapid decline of the Progressives, but the slime being brought forth is tiring to anyone who pays a lot of attention to politics.
I spent most of the day yesterday driving my daughter back to college from a break and then returning home. It is a tiring day. I tuned into Fox News and one of my new favorite shows, On The Record with Greta Van Susteren. Unlike many of her prime-time colleagues on Fox News, she conducts interviews and lets her guests talk without interuption. She asks the tough questions listens to the answers allowing us to hear them too.
In politics the vaunted “October Surprise” has been a powerful tactic to turn the tide of past elections. Perhaps the most infamous was the charges leveled against George W. Bush by CBS News and Dan Rather in the run up to the 2004 presidential election. CBS News and Rather aired a hit piece stating that “W” only really served in the National Guard to avoid a stint in Vietnam. Rather’s dramatic use of documents from the National Guard came back to haunt him as bloggers quickly and easily identified the documents as forged and faked. How embarrassing that a national news organization was unable to determine the legitimacy of documents while folks sitting at home could.
In this series I choose a current news article and you decide via a multiple choice format which terms were used and whether others would have been more accurate…….
Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama named Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren a(n) __________ (adviser, czar, czarina, non-vetted adviser) to help __________ (control, shape, subvert, empower) the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, calling her __________ (“one of the country’s fiercest advocates for the lower class,” “one of the country’s fiercest advocates for the middle class,” “an elitist from academia with no business experience who will further my socialist agenda,” “an awesome sista and you’re a racist if you oppose her nomination…wait there was no nomination process as she is just another one of my extra-Constitutional appointees with unlimited power and answers only to me…snap!”)
