Framing the Dialogue

Bloviating

bill_oreillyAnyone who has watched Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly knows that he eschews bloviating which is intriguing as he is a serial bloviator.  After the President’s State Of The Union speech on Tuesday the topic of minimum wage has been hotly debated.  And Billy O was kind enough to invite the requisite opposing pundits to discuss the issue.  As he can often do, he proceeded to interrupt the conservative pundit (sorry I don’t remember her name) as she offer the usual proof regarding the FACTS that a minimum wage actually, historically, and truthfully hurts those who are just starting out. Obama with O’Reilly’s blessing wants a minimum wage of around $10.10/hour.

The Fifth Dimension

irsThis week’s cavalcade of IRS shenanigans featured a Deputy IRS Directory, Greg Roseman, who, when questioned by a congressman, invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination.  That is the second IRS official to delve into the fifth dimension in as many months.  In case you weren’t keeping track of all of the IRS scandals this one doesn’t deal with the targeting, harassing, and preventing conservative groups from organizing.  They could certainly organize, it was just raising money that they really couldn’t do.

Back to Roseman and as reported by Fox News

Low Information News

So the Obama Administration has scores of scandals like;

  • Benghazi where they failed to secure our citizens, failed to try to help them when attacked on 9/11/12, and then lied and lied and lied about what happened until after the election, and now stonewall any investigation.
  • Fast and Furious where Obama purchased weapons in the United States and facilitated turning them over to Mexican criminals and estimates are that 300 people have been killed with the weapons including one American.
  • IRS Scandal where “enemies” of the Obama Administration mysteriously found themselves the target of IRS audits and lack of action on applications for “non profit” status.

Parsimony – War On Fox

Neither the lame-stream media nor the far left seem to know what to do about Fox News.  They both agree to some old fashioned blocking of the free press, but Fox is just too big and too popular, and thus has too big of a soapbox.  This latest folly from the Adulterated Press (AP) is cute, but worth parsing…

First the headline (with a link to the original story)…

Fox’s correspondent on front lines with Obama

…Now the story with my bold comments:

Charles In Charge

Nearly three and a half years ago I dubbed Charles Krauthammer a True American Hero.  Most of the folks to whom I have given this honor have lived up to the title, alas some have not, but Charles Krauthammer remains one of my favorites.  I look forward to Fox News’ Brett Baier and his all-star panel and especially Mr. Krauthammer’s commentary.  His words are especially delicious when he follows the liberal “newsperson” usually seated to his right and soundly refutes their assertion.

The REAL Vietnam History Lesson

General VoNguyen Giap:  General Giap was a brilliant, highly respected leader of the North Vietnam military. The following quote is from his memoirs currently found in the Vietnam war memorial in Hanoi :

‘What we still don’t understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi . You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battle of TET. You defeated us!  We knew it, and we thought you knew it.  But we were elated to notice your media was helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefields. We were ready to surrender. You had won!’

Debate Deconstructed

I don’t like watching the debates. I DO NOT believe that debates matter as much as most pundits have been stating lately. I still find it hard to believe that here we are roughly three weeks from the presidential election and there are still so many “undecided” voters. Where have they been? Both Obama and Romney are pretty well known commodities so why the indecision? The real question should be why we put so much reliability and emphasis on a bunch of people who cannot make up their minds.

No They Can’t

One of the things that I struggle with the most in my life is trying to understand how anyone who has ever dealt with government can also BELIEVE that government is the answer to everything.  Somehow government can fix anything. No, They Can’t argues Fox’s John Stossel as he explains “why government fails – but individuals succeed.”  I remember watching Stossel’s hard hitting pieces exposing consumer fraud and he was the darling of the mainstream media winning dozens of Emmy’s.  That all changed when he, in his own way, started questioning some of the ivory towers of liberalism or as I call them, Liberal Alters’
