Puzzle Me This

I happened to catch some of Sean Hannity’s radio show this afternoon.  He had as a guest long-time Democrat strategist and spokesman Lanny Davis.  Sean had devilish intentions of busting the chops of Davis about President Obama’s poll numbers and suggesting that just about any Republican candidate could win in 2012.  Davis differed on that and suggested that only Romney had the right stuff to challenge Obama (I have to admit to being leery about the Democrat’s consistent position, almost a longing, to have Romney be the Republican nominee).

Lone Wolf

Consider this headline:

Frankfurt Shooting Suspect Likely a ‘Lone Wolf’

The “alleged shooter, Arid Uka, is described as a “a 21-year-old ethnic Albanian whose family moved to Germany from Kosovo,(and) had an “Islamist” motivation for firing at U.S. Air Force personnel.”  I may have my history wrong, but President William Jefferson Clinton got us involved in Kosovo on the side of the Muslims.  Once control was wrested from the government (I know that Milosovic was a “bad” guy) the Christian churches started burning down and atrocities committed against those not practicing the Muslim religion.  At some point, perhaps, authorities will put the puzzle pieces together that, perhaps, a preponderance of evidence, perhaps, exists that since there are so many Muslim “lone wolves” out there that, perhaps, they should no longer be considered lone wolves even though there is not a paper trail linking the wolves.

The Obama administration, in yet another example of a long string of leadership failures, has jumped in to the fray to rescue United States citizens stuck in Libya amid the rioting. For this White House the reaction was fairly rapid if not effective as the ship that they chartered to haul away our fellow Americans was far too small to handle the number of people and the rough seas and was unable to leave the port. Could have happened to anyone you say and I suppose that is true, but the Greeks and the Turks had the foresight to get a proper boat. No disrespect to those nations, but we should have done better.

BHO Network

The new, open media has allowed virtually anyone to produce their own media outlet. For less than ten dollars you can register your domain name at GoDaddy, set up a WordPress account and be on your way. It’s getting the audience that is the tough part. (By the way thank all of you for continuing to read FramingTheDialogue! – tell your friends) If you have ten or twenty million dollars you can start your own cable network like Al Gore’s “Nobody Knows The Name Network” or Oprah’s “O” network. Even for big names like Oprah and Gore getting the audience is still the rough part. Neither of them has done particularly well.

A Few Words About Egypt

It is hard to even a few hours without hearing troubling news about the events in Egypt.  I have a few thoughts that you may have already heard and wanted to share them without deep analysis that can only reasonably come after the dust has settled.

  • I find it telling that the Obama Administration has delved deeply into the struggles of a nation ruled by a man seemingly unpopular with his people.  A man who rules with an iron fist, but is friendly to the west and Israel.  Obama’s daily calls for another country’s leader to step down is unsettling in that I thought he was against interference with the governance of other countries.

Nicked by the Bullet

A few weeks ago I postulated about how much damage the lame duck session of Congress would inflict on the American people (Duck Duck Screwed). Like my Amazon Wish List, liberals had their own, more costly wish list that we would have to pay for. Many of these items were specifically not brought to the floor prior to the election as they were vote killers and would have likely precipitated an even more lopsided win by Republicans.

Decision Points

If you love George W. Bush you’ll still love him; If you hate him you’ll still hate him; If you are like me and fit neither extreme you probably won’t be moved from that position either.  One thing that he is most proud of was that under his watch we were not attacked after 9/11.  I appreciated the speed with which the government moved into “protect” mode after those attacks.  Did they go too far with the Patriot Act…probably.

Stiki Wiki

There is a lot of furor over the latest release of stolen classified documents by Wikileaks and their subsequent publication by many media outlets including the New York Times.  No surprise that the NYT would publish classified documents that embarrass the United States as they have done in the past.  The surprise is perhaps that the documents diminish their lord and president, Barack Hussein Obama.

United Against U.S. Nations

The United Nations was founded in 1945 against the backdrop of World War II and had lofty goals to ease international disputes, provide security, improve economic development and improve human rights.  There are few who would argue against these goals even today, but did the United Nations experiment deliver?  It delivered, but not really on any of those promises.  Here we are 65 years later and the world has many disputes, security seems to be worse, we are in a severe economic downturn, and the UN is attacking the United States for human rights violations.

Hey There Georgie Boy

One of the keystone techniques of “journalists” (I use quotes as I believe that most news readers do not deserve this title and by enclosing it in quotes it becomes a sort of derisive label) is the loaded question.  They love to thinly veil their viewpoint or deepest wishes by asking loaded questions; questions that are often longer than the answers.  “Journalist” George Stephanopoulos’ “thought-provoking” (there are those quotation marks again) questions are often funny, but in a sad way.  Is there any doubt that Georgie Boy is anything but a progressive shill?
