Framing the Dialogue

Googling Herself

A while back I was dismayed by an editorial/comment by one of the editors of the Costco magazine regarding Al Gore and Glenn Beck.  I took exception to a membership magazine disparaging Beck while hoisting Gore on a pedestal to schlep his most recent book.  My post, Costco Disconnection was perhaps my most read and certainly most commented on article.  You can follow the link if you want to read the original posting.

New Briefs – Volume X (Obama Unplugged)

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

This session is all about our Organizer-In-Chief:

Brief 1:  Dorothy Rabinowitz wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal yesterday peering into the inner workings of Obama’s mind.  Rabinowitz describes him as “the alien in the White House” since he is more in tune with his ideology than average Americans.  As President of the United States he is, perhaps, the leader of the free world and he seems to gravitate to that role yet forgetting that his is our President first.

News Briefs – Volume VIII

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

Brief 1:  Big New York Brother wants to use the occasion of the failed truck bomb to “flood Manhattan” to stop future attacks.  Someone needs to explain how an inanimate object like a video camera will stop attacks.  Will they be fitted with propulsion systems to they can hurl themselves at would be attackers?  It would be more economical to use drones to fly over the city like on the television series “24.”  My prediction is that they’ll buy cameras made in China.

No Gulf Trip

Exxon Valdez, Hurricane Ivan, Ruby Ridge, Monica Lewinsky, Iranian U.S. Embassy take over, Bay of Pigs, and Hurricane Katrina were all disasters faced by White House different administrations.  Besides the worst economy and near 10% unemployment Obama has his first “natural” disaster.

So what has Obama done so far?  Not much. Over a week after the disaster he has promised to escalate the federal response to the spill.  The citizens of the Gulf coast should feel pretty good as Eric Holder has sent a team of lawyers to “monitor” the oil spill.  That’s really what the wildlife, citizens, fishermen, and responders need is a bunch of lawyers.  My guess is that there are plenty of ambulance chasers there already.  This move should tell you all that you need to know about this administration.  Lawyers!  Really?

News Briefs Volume VII

News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…

This edition is all about Obama’s bad week though Americans who rely on the mainstream media missed most of the implications.

Brief 1:  Obama and his employees Tim Geithner (Treasury Secretary) and Ed Whitacre (Government Motors CEO) were all a tizzy when GM paid back part of their TARP loans…with interest.  GM even made a commercial to announce the success of the program.  This news of such a government success couldn’t come at a better time for Obama as he looks to take over Wall Street.  Unfortunately Sen. Chuck Grassley and some others (including the Inspector General for the TARP program) read the fine print on the alleged payback…with interest.  Grassley stated;

Uncertainty (un – sûr – tn – tee)

Uncertainty is defined as:

  1. Situation where the current state of knowledge is such that the order or nature of things is unknown, the consequences, extent, or magnitude of circumstances, conditions, or events is unpredictable, and credible probabilities to possible outcomes cannot be assigned.
  2. Doubt

Synonyms:  doubt, mistrust, suspicion

What does W think?

“If America shows weakness and uncertainty, the world will drift toward tragedy. That will not happen on my watch.”

George W. Bush

Can you give an example?

The Unruly Trinity

There are three entities that have the unique ability to drive the left absolutely stark raving mad.  The mere mention of any of these makes Keith Olberman slather, Chris Matthews have leg pain, Rachel Madow (Ok I got nothing for her), the New York Times lose more circulation, and Robert Gibbs wish for his big break on Saturday Night Live.

The first and perhaps the most hated is former Republican Veep candidate, Sarah Palin.  Sean Hannity calls it “Palin Derangement Syndrome.”  The left was probably very disappointed that they did not get to choose the Republican VP candidate like they chose John McCain and took an instant dislike to her.  From the price of her campaign wardrobe to who is the mother of her child to what she reads and most recently what she writes on her hand.

Team Loses Playbook Before Big Game

January 19, 2009 – Update:  It is now estimated that the costs for the Obama inaguration will surpass $170 million ($49 million to be spent by the Federal Government and another $75 million by local governments who will seek reimbursement from the Federal Government.  According to my math that is $124 million in tax dollars!).  The article by ABC News did NOT call for this money to be spent on homeless, the poor, or starving people.

January 14, 2009 – Update:  It is estimated that the costs for Barrack Obama’s inaguration will surpass $100 million dollars.
