Last Friday there were four tragic deaths in the City of Pittsburgh due to a flash flooding incident. A mother, her two young daughters were killed when trapped in their van and another woman is believed to have been swept away as she fled her vehicle. Everyone empathizes with their families and our hearts go out to them as these stories bring back tragic thoughts of loved ones that we have lost.

I spent part of my career working as the environmental manager for a large waste firm. I was part of a new management team that was coming into an older landfill facility that had a less than stellar reputation. When I considered leaving and taking the position I asked a colleague about the company and facility since he worked with them a lot his advice was that “they could sure use the help.” I took the challenge and spent nearly eight years with the company. Most times I likened my days to what a surfer must feel like with a big wave. I always had my day planned, but once I got on that wave it took me places that I had not planned.
I’d like to suggest that the Obama Administration be renamed the OBA Administration or the Obama Back-Assward Administration. When most of us have a problem we try to find and fix using logic. For instance, my car was having some trouble starting so I had the battery and alternator checked. If I were to act like the Obama Back-Assward Administration, I would probably have my key checked. It would be funny except that these folks are “running” the country or should I say “ruining” the country…

The Obama administration, in yet another example of a long string of leadership failures, has jumped in to the fray to rescue United States citizens stuck in Libya amid the rioting. For this White House the reaction was fairly rapid if not effective as the ship that they chartered to haul away our fellow Americans was far too small to handle the number of people and the rough seas and was unable to leave the port. Could have happened to anyone you say and I suppose that is true, but the Greeks and the Turks had the foresight to get a proper boat. No disrespect to those nations, but we should have done better.
Now with over eighteen months in the White House the Obama Regime is having to come to grips with ruling versus running. Even though he still seems to be in campaign mode, Obama has to be coming to the realization that being the President of the United States is not anything like community organizing. He can no longer say anything he wants or make conflicting promises. He is still doing it, but citizens have expectations that are not being met.
As I sat this evening to try to catch up on the happenings of the day I, of course, went to Drudge (link on the right…scroll down a little…there it is). I was attracted to the headline/link stating “Obama says stop the finger pointing.” Even though I generally read every word printed that Oblama speaks, I admit to skipping. I had heard some of his remark discussing the “spectacle” of oil executive having the nerve to defend themselves after being summoned to testify in Congress.
I was looking for a quick book to read as I took a break from Tim Ferris’ Four Hour Work Week. It is not that the book is bad, but there is so much to absorb that I wanted something mindless. The Silent Man
Dr. John A. Zoidberg: If you have ever watched the animated television series, Futurama, you are familiar with Dr. John A. Zoidberg. Dr. Zoidberg seems to be a hapless character who is not well liked and is not particularly competent at his job as the medical officer for his company, Planet Express. His beliefs are backwards as he thinks food is digested in the heart and cannot tell the difference between robots and humans. He seems to be unaware of common human customs and socially inept to the point that most cannot stand to be in his presence and detest him.
