News Briefs – Volume XXIV
News briefs are a collection of interesting news stories…
Brief 1: In the town where ground troops first met in battle during the Civil War (Manassas, VA or Bull Run for you northerners) another battle is looming. Obama’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) held a press conference yesterday proudly announcing that 160 “foreign nationals” (illegal aliens) were arrested. All was not joyful in the story however as local politicians reminded that ICE has a slushy record regarding detaining illegals even when they have criminal records.


The “dog” in this post is none other than our esteemed VP, Joe Biden. For the life of me I cannot understand why he is not kept under wraps. Even the lame-stream media cannot smother all of the things that come out of his mouth. Maybe his freedom is part of a “contrast” strategy whereby Obama looks bright and measured by comparison. A more likely scenario is that by shooting off his mouth, BHO can always jettison him before the next presidential election in favor of a more “suitable” running mate. By “suitable” I mean Hillary (she is famous for wearing pants suits).

The first and perhaps the most hated is former Republican Veep candidate, Sarah Palin. Sean Hannity calls it “Palin Derangement Syndrome.” The left was probably very disappointed that they did not get to choose the Republican VP candidate like they chose John McCain and took an instant dislike to her. From the price of her campaign wardrobe to who is the mother of her child to what she reads and most recently what she writes on her hand.
Sorry this is not a baseball post. Those of us living in Pittsburgh with the hapless Pirates; holders of the longest losing streak of all professional sports (17 years and counting) don’t talk about much about professional baseball. Our president gave his first pitch at a State of the Union speech and apparently did not hit the strike zone. I confess to not watching as I could not bear to see Ms. Pelosi popping up every 30 seconds, Obama’s use of the words “I” or “me” a gazillion times or his
