Much is made in the media about exorbitant salaries of corporate CEOs. Even as a capitalist the compensation that some CEOs get seem way over the top, but that is between them and their stockholders. One thing about CEOs, however, is that they generally are responsible for what happens to their company in good times and in bad. The buck stops there.
You decide on whether the news is slanted against the Second Amendment. This article was front page of Pittsburgh’s “conservative” newspaper. Though it is an Adulterated Press (AP) story it ran in our paper without any attempt to get the facts straight. The use of the contrasting photographs should be enough to let you know which side the AP is on. It would be very easy to take this bait. I’d be willing to wager that AP offices have armed guards though they’re probably not armed with assault rifles. BTW Ms. Giffords was not shot with an assault rifle and there is a growing belief that assault rifles were not used in the Newtown school shooting as confirmed by NBC News on January 15, 2013.
Neither the lame-stream media nor the far left seem to know what to do about Fox News. They both agree to some old fashioned blocking of the free press, but Fox is just too big and too popular, and thus has too big of a soapbox. This latest folly from the Adulterated Press (AP) is cute, but worth parsing…

Yet again an Associated Press story is the muse of a Parsimony post. I don’t seek out AP stories, but it often seems like their reporting often shows the bias of the mainstream media. This article is just in time for the 2012 election cycle and puppets Obama’s misspeak (by misspeak I of course he blurted out what he really believes) regarding government’s role in funding private business. By the way this was a front page article in my local “conservative” newspaper.

A few months ago I commented on the transparency of the lame-stream media and the Associated Press specifically as they shamelessly shilled for all things Obama and all things Democrat/Liberal. Last week The AP’s chairman, Dean Singleton, who was perhaps channeling Chris Matthews outwardly gushed in his introduction of President Obama. Here are a few choice phrases from the “unbiased” “journalist;”
“there is no mistaking his name and even I can’t mess it up. It’s Mr. President.”

OKLAHOMA CITY — A year after Republicans swept into office across the country, many have trained their sights on what has long been a fiscal conservative’s dream: the steep reduction or elimination of state income taxes. [So far so good]
Obama’s Justice Department is hot on another “criminal” as they have gone after Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Maricopa County in Arizona. In an AP (Adulterated Press) story the federal government has “found that Arpaio’s office committed a wide range of civil rights violations against Latinos, including unjust immigration patrols and jail policies” and one official “called it the most egregious case he has seen or reviewed in professional literature.” Big Brother (Eric Holder) has given Arpaio until January 4, 2012 to decide if he wants to work out an agreement with Obama/Holder.
Perhaps one of the saddest statistics that can be pinned to George Bush’s second term and hyper-inflated by the Obama Administration is the fact that as of August 2011 more than 45 million people were receiving food stamp benefits. So approximately 14 percent of Americans need government to survive. Since half of the recipients are children their parents are obviously unable to properly care for them. These “safety net” programs have morphed into the natural order of things for many families; relying on the government dole to exist.

I’ve gotten to the point that before I read a newspaper article (yes I still read the newspaper every day) I read the headline then where the news story originated. For many news sources like the Washington Post, the LA Times, and the New York Times that is where I stop because their slanted reporting is more than I can take. If the story looks interesting I’ll look for a more reliable online source. One news source that seems both prolific and particularly biased is the Adulterated Press (or “AP”).

WASHINGTON – (AP) — The Obama administration says it is unable to go forward with a major program in the president’s signature health care overhaul law — a new long-term care insurance plan. [broken promises]
Officials said Friday the long-term care program has critical design flaws that can’t be fixed to make it financially self-sustaining. [Perhaps had they spent a little time doin some cipherin they could have figured this stuff out ahead of time. It is hard to believe that the White House's fiscal projections were flawed.]
