Framing the Dialogue

suspectI have often said that it is difficult for me to review a novel without giving too much away, but I also never want to just say “it was good…read it.”  Though Suspect by Robert Crais was good and you should read it.  This is the first novel by Crais that I have read and now will feel compelled to go back and pick up some of his earlier books.

The action starts in Afghanistan and a pair of unlikely partners find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation in Los Angles.  Officer Scott James’ new partner has some unusual skills that help solve a mystery that involved James.  Mostly told from the view of Scott, we also get some viewpoint from his partner, Maggie.  The exciting climax left me wondering and sitting in my car in the rain trying to finish the book.  I had it with me and started to reading while waiting for the rain to let up.  I stayed until the book ended.  Not a bad book to read in a Sams Club parking lot on a raining Saturday!
