- A snapshop paints a thousand words this one of Yahoo tells you what the mainstream media wants you to read
This story about identity theft sounds about as exciting the next story about identity theft except that the perpetrator was not interested in stealing money or assets. Zach Edwards has been accused and arrested for attempting to steal the identity of Matt Schultz. This is still not titillating for you? Here is the headline from the story from the Des Moines Register:
Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz Targeted for Identity Theft by Former Obama Staffer
And this quote about the crime:
“A Des Moines man has been arrested after police say he used, or tried to use, the identity of Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz in a scheme to falsely implicate Schultz in perceived unethical behavior in office.â€
I am sure that some will suggest that Mr. Edwards is a “lone wolf†and acted on his own (or he’ll end up committing “suicide†in his cell before trial), but a few parallels come to mind that make this story perhaps bigger than the lone wolf:
- This political attack against an opponent smells of Saul Alinsky tactics which has become the left’s preferred weapon against the right.
- This is Chicago-style politics at its worst
- Is there any connection to the George Soros-funded Secretaries of State project?
- The Democrats have been repeatedly going after Secretary of State Schultz since he has taken office.
“Since his surprise victory over incumbent Michael Mauro in November 2010, Secretary of State Schultz has been a target of the Iowa Democratic Party. Interestingly, on June 24, the same day as Zach Edwards’s alleged crime, Under the Golden Dome, a blog connected to Iowa Democrats, launched a three-part series of articles critical of Matt Schultz. They were based on documents obtained through an open records request from “a tipster.†The blog alleged that a batch of emails from Schultz’s office “raise some serious questions about his ability to remain independent and ensure election integrityâ€.
This story sounds a little too much like Watergate. We’ll have to wait and see if there is a proper investigation into the crimes and whether Mr. Edwards decides to sing to lessen his jail time.
Please explain how this is not headlining news.
