Framing the Dialogue

Dinosaur Brains

Are you tired of “dealing with all those impossible people at work?’  After a period of time in any job, the honeymoon will be over and the personalities come out.  Albert J. Bernstein and Sydney Craft Rozen call these Dinosaur Brains.

Learn about the many components of the brain including; impulsiveness, fight/run, dominance, territorial, romance, and placing blame to name a few.  The authors provide a lot of insight into behavior…maybe even your behavior.

This book is not just for working folks.  I was the chairman of an elementary school trip fund-raising effort.  There were only about 75 students, but that makes 150 parents!  I once had one parent call me to “offer help,” and confide to me how another parent (who wanted to be the chairperson) was complaining about me.  I hung up the phone and within five minutes that other parent called me with a question.  She then proceeded to tell me how the other parent (the one that I just hung up with) was complaining about my efforts.  Those are dinosaur brains.

I almost wanted to note in the margins who in my life matched the personalities outlined in the book.   Read the book and learn about “Lizard Logic.”
