Framing the Dialogue

Bumbling Bundlers

I was fascinated by these two side-by-side articles by Reuters News Service.  The actually made it to page 3 and I doubt that Reuters wanted them to be printed beside one another.

Story one was about a poor company, LightSquared that developed a product that was going to provide a wireless broadband network all accross America.  While that sounds great their “service” tended to interfere with all other GPS networks and satellites, even those used by our military.  Still LightSquared fought the good fight and conviced the FCC to grant approval of the system.  That’s when the firestorm started…actually no firestorm as you probably never heard of LightSquared (even though I included it in my top ten 2011 news stories – it was in No. 5).  Stuff did happen as Congress (make that the Republicans) started getting involved and the FCC suddenly revoked their approval.  The Reuters piece was all about the business and what their next step would be, perhaps bankruptcy!  I thought this excerpt from the article was very interesting;

Getting By With A Little Help From My Friends

The "Justice Brothers" - Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant Attorney General in the criminal division of the Justice Department Lanny Breuer.

If you listened to Obama’s State Of The Union Campaign Speech yesterday (I can’t listen to him anymore lest my head explodes) you’d think his administration is all about doing for the “main street” person, protecting the little guy, championing David versus Goliath.  Unfortunately his words ring hollow when Obama’s actions tell a different tale.  Imagine if, say the Obama Justice Department, chose to use “prosecutorial discretion” when going after law breakers.  You expect that to some extent as law enforcement should spend their time on the most serious crimes and Obama has promised to go after big banks who screwed customers using illegal practices,

Who Is Tim Galt?

Any hockey fan knows who Tim Thomas is. He is perhaps the premier goalie in the National Hockey League (and it hurts being from Pittsburgh and saying that). He has been described as “unorthodox” in his style, but he is the current Stanley Cup champion goalie of the Boston Bruins. Part of the celebration of June’s Stanley Cup Victory is for the winning team to make a visit to the White House. I am sure that some Bruin handed Obama a Boston Bruin sweater.

Conspicuously absent from the ceremony was Tim Thomas. It what is being called a snub, Thomas declined the invitation releasing a statement that;

Life Unlock

A snapshop paints a thousand words this one of Yahoo tells you what the mainstream media wants you to read

This story about identity theft sounds about as exciting the next story about identity theft except that the perpetrator was not interested in stealing money or assets. Zach Edwards has been accused and arrested for attempting to steal the identity of Matt Schultz. This is still not titillating for you? Here is the headline from the story from the Des Moines Register:

Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz Targeted for Identity Theft by Former Obama Staffer

Looking Forward to Lite Summer Blends

I’ll bet this image caught your eye!

No I am no talking about fashion.  If you ever saw me dress you’d know that I do not follow current trends.  The blends that I am talking about are “designer” gasoline blends that are required depending on where you live.  First some background from the General Accounting Office,

“The Clean Air Act, as amended, requires some areas with especially poor air quality to use a “special gasoline blend” designed to reduce emissions”

“when different octane grades and other factors are considered, there were at least 45 different kinds of gasoline produced in the United States during all of 2004.”
