U6
As I was doing some research on unemployment numbers I came across a gem of a news story. This economist was disparaging the President about his U6 unemployment numbers,
“U6, the broadest measure of unemployment and underemployment from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. (No data available before 1994.) You can still argue that presidents really don’t have that much influence on the economy. But…supporters eagerly claimed that downward stretch…coinciding with the worst excesses of the housing bubble.”
About two years ago I wrote a post about what “poor” really means in America and what amenities many of those below the poverty line have. I don’t want to delve back into that because you can
November 2008 was the liberal, main-stream media’s crowning glory as they were complicit in hoisting an unknown, untested, inexperienced person upon the American people. The information about Obama’s past was out there, but was not covered in the lame-stream media who were too busy and too left-leaning to offer a balanced view of Senator Obama. Ultimately it is the fault of the American voters who cast their ballots for Obama/Biden and relied on the media’s fairy tale about the first black president. Not only was the press fawning over Obama, but they threw former favorite Hillary under the bus to support Barack and pushed very hard for Republican “maverick” John McCain to be the GOP nominee. McCain was the candidate long before I even had the chance to cast my primary vote.
One of the typical accusations about labor union leaders is that they no longer really represent their members and pursue their own agendas…agendas that most of their members do not support even to the extreme of advocating a socialist or even communist viewpoint regarding collective bargaining. There can be no denying that labor unions spend hundreds of millions of dollars collected from members to support Democrat candidates that push for stronger union control of labor markets. When union members voluntarily give their pay to union bosses that is free choice. However when workers, like myself, are force to pay a “fair share” to unions to which we do not wish to belong that should be illegal. My earnings are taken from my pay, given to unions, and often given to the very politicians who forced me to pay the unions. They didn’t make me join, but they take a percentage of my pay without my approval.
Mr. Hume of course was discussing President Obama as he continues to wiggle to be all things to all people while refusing to lead on important issues as a world leader should. Obama has become the quintessential politician whose sole goal seems to be getting reelected. As of this writing and
I was struck, yet again, by a move by Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency. They are looking to

I know what you are thinking…Liberals seem to abhor religion and will stop at nothing to denigrate the beliefs of others. Their absolute worship of the anti-religion in and of itself is a religion. I cannot say that they are atheists outright, but many of them maintain only loose ties to the religion in which their parents raised them. I differentiate those from people like me who are believers and live the faith, but don’t like to go to church. I wouldn’t call myself a religious person, but I believe in God and work to live my life according to my Catholic faith…except for the whole going to church every Sunday. I also believe (and am counting on) that God is merciful and forgiving and understanding and forgiving.
First the good news…The Borough of Crafton (near Pittsburgh, PA) was ordered to pay $1.8 million to the previous owners of a property that the Borough seized through eminent domain in 1999. The judgement included $1 million for the property, approx. $600,000 in interest, and $200,000 in legal fees.
